The creaking heart serves as a crucial element for the newly introduced Creaking mob. In the Pale Garden biome, these wooden creatures emerge at night, emerging from within the pale oak trees that populate the area. Once night falls, the heart block triggers the spawning of these wood-like entities.

During Minecraft Live, Mojang confirmed that the Creaking mob has unique protection. Players cannot inflict harm on it through melee or ranged attacks; even though it has a mere half a heart of health, traditional weapons and explosions will not affect it. This is due to its bond with the creaking heart block, which remains outside its body. To eliminate a Creaking, players must find and destroy its associated heart block. When this block sustains damage, the Creaking will disintegrate immediately.

New Feature: Resin Secretion from the Creaking Heart Block

Mojang has enhanced the functionality of the creaking heart block by introducing a new substance called resin, further enriching the gameplay experience centered around the Creaking. When players attack the Creaking mob, resin begins to accumulate on the surrounding pale oak logs, appearing as small orange droplet clusters.

This resin production is ongoing; the more players engage with the Creaking, the more resin will appear, connecting their actions directly to the environment. Additionally, the creaking heart block itself can yield one to three resin clumps if collected without using a silk-touch enchanted tool.
