Understanding Saros: Effective Methods to Cleanse Corruption and When to Avoid It

In Saros, the Eclipse event presents players with a dual-edged experience, introducing formidable foes capable of inflicting a unique debuff known as Corruption. While many players may instinctively try to evade this condition, understanding how to strategically embrace it can yield significant rewards. The secret to mastering Saros’s most formidable offensive setups lies in skillfully managing the fine line between having a fully operational suit and enduring Corruption.

Defining Corruption

Enemies becoming capable of dealing Corruption is one of the unfortunate consequences of the Eclipse.

During the Eclipse, players will face upgraded adversaries who unleash projectiles marked by a distinctive yellow hue. These projectiles are the primary source of Corruption upon hitting a character.

It’s important to note that Corruption doesn’t inflict immediate damage that can take Arjun down in one blow. Rather, it significantly reduces your maximum Armor Integrity, regardless of your Resilience Growth Attribute. This decrease in maximum health can dramatically affect your chances of survival, especially during intense battles against elite foes and challenging bosses where every point of health matters.

Restoring Maximum Health (Cleansing Corruption)

The good news is that Corruption is not an irreversible status during a cycle and can be mitigated through aggressive gameplay:

  • By firing your Power Weapon (press L2 and R2), you’ll clear a portion of the Corruption affecting Arjun with each shot.
  • Maintain your health by focusing on absorbing blue projectiles with your Soltari Shield to generate Power, which can then be used to eliminate foes and restore your health threshold.
  • Once you have mastered the necessary skills, you can also cleanse Corruption by executing a successful parry.

Strategic Moments to Avoid Cleansing Corruption

In certain situations, remaining in a corrupted state can yield major advantages.

While it’s generally advisable to cleanse Corruption, there are instances where maintaining this status can be beneficial.

As you navigate through Carcosa during the Eclipse, you may encounter Corrupted Weapons. These weapons are infused with Eclipse energy and have their damage output increased based on your Corruption level.

At maximum Corruption, the damage output becomes incredibly potent, effectively transforming Arjun into a glass cannon. An adept player who showcases skillful dodging and parrying techniques can capitalize on this ability, allowing them to swiftly deplete enemy health bars.

Understanding when to play conservatively and when to push Corruption limits, alongside utilizing Traversal Boost to detect nearby enemies even before consulting the mini-map, distinguishes a seasoned player from a novice in the depths of Saros.
