The much-anticipated Elden Ring Nightreign has officially launched its first significant content update, exciting fans who have long speculated about the game’s live-service elements. While the game has notably avoided microtransactions and battle passes, players are eager for fresh experiences, including new bosses and characters.
Introducing Enhanced Bosses in Elden Ring Nightreign
This latest update introduces players to the Everdark Sovereign mode, where you will encounter enhanced bosses known as Everdark Sovereigns. These formidable foes enhance the difficulty and tactics associated with the Nightlords, featuring unique abilities and rewards to entice players.
At the current time, players can engage with the Everdark Sovereign known as Gaping Jaws (Adel, Baron of Night).FromSoftware has indicated that additional enhanced bosses, such as Sentient Pest and Darkdrift Knight, will soon follow.
How to Engage with Everdark Sovereign Fights
Before you can challenge an Everdark Sovereign, it’s essential to have conquered the original iteration of that Nightlord. Once accomplished, you will find the enhanced version available at the bottom of your Expedition list in the matchmaking menu, as depicted below:

Once you’re matched for this boss, prepare for a revamped confrontation. The bosses showcase new abilities that significantly increase their difficulty, ensuring a thrilling experience.
Rewards for Conquering Everdark Sovereigns
Defeating an Everdark Sovereign grants players a new currency known as Sovereign Sigils. These Sigils can be spent at the ‘Collector Signboard’, accessible via the location list alongside your map. Players can use their Sigils for various exciting options:
- Acquire new Urns and Chalices.
- Obtain new Relics with fixed traits.
- Trigger Shifting Earth events, like the Crater or the Shrouded City, whenever desired.
- Purchase skins for Nightfarers, now available for Sigils instead of using Murk.
Moreover, the Collector Signboard allows players to restore the ‘Great Site of Grace’—the central Grace point within the Hold—to its original, brighter state prior to facing the final boss, the Night Aspect.
Be mindful that your initial victory against an Everdark Sovereign will reward you with extra Sovereign Sigils, although subsequent defeats will yield fewer rewards.
