The highly anticipated Demon Realm’s Eternal Dragon awakens in Dragon Ball Daima. After enduring a perilous expedition through the Demon Realm, battling formidable foes such as Tamagami and sea monsters, the Dragon Balls unite, and the summoning chant is spoken.
In a shocking reversal, it is Glorio—not Goku or his allies—who summons the Eternal Dragon under Arinsu’s directive. Glorio’s treachery has been hinted since the beginning of Dragon Ball Daima, particularly in episode 1, “Conspiracy, ”where he lurks in the shadows of Gomah’s palace. The Supreme Kai’s unease around Glorio serves as a forewarning to Goku, emphasizing the need for caution. Equipped with knowledge of the Namekian language, Glorio finally calls forth the legendary Porunga.

Aesthetically, Demon Realm Porunga resembles the original Porunga from the Namek Saga in Dragon Ball Z. The notable distinctions include his vibrant red coloration, yellow eyes, and a blue outline between his red scales and beige skin. Additionally, Demon Realm Porunga appears larger than his Namekian counterpart, as demonstrated when he dwarfs the super giant Gomah. However, it is essential to note that the sizes of Eternal Dragons can vary.
Beyond mere appearance, the capabilities of the two dragons differ significantly. The Demon Realm Porunga is limited to granting a single wish upon summoning, as opposed to the Namekian Porunga’s ability to fulfill three wishes simultaneously. While this aspect remains unexplained, it could be attributed to the presence of only three Dragon Balls in the Demon Realm, making their collection seemingly less challenging. Despite facing the Tamagami, a force not created alongside the Dragon Balls, the initial acquisition of these Dragon Balls likely posed fewer obstacles for mighty beings such as the Supreme Demon King.

Witnessing an Eternal Dragon engage physically is rare, setting Demon Realm Porunga apart from others. A striking comparison can be made to the established abilities of Shenron in Dragon Ball. In episode 112, “King Piccolo’s Wish, ”Shenron fails to evade a lethal assault from Demon King Piccolo after granting a wish, leading to his demise. Despite the disparity in power levels, it raises questions about the inherent defensive capabilities of Eternal Dragons.

Are Eternal Dragons Limited to Their Creator’s Strength?
Fans may wonder if the power displayed by Demon Realm Porunga implies that Neva, the creator, is equally strong. A common belief exists that Eternal Dragons match their creator’s strength; however, this is only partially accurate. Eternal Dragons possess unique attributes beyond their creators’ capabilities. For instance, while Kami has limitations on wish-granting, Eternal Dragons can perform feats which their creators cannot, such as resurrecting the deceased or bestowing eternal youth. Conversely, Shenron, despite Kami’s greater power, was unable to defeat Demon King Piccolo.
The idea that Eternal Dragons’ physical strength mirrors that of their creators is misleading; rather, it is their wish-granting abilities that reflect that might. They cannot influence beings more powerful than their creators without consent, which explains why Shenron could not grant wishes that involved the destruction of the Saiyans, a race far beyond Kami in terms of power.
Physical strength remains an enigma; various factors may determine the combat capabilities of Eternal Dragons. It is plausible that Demon Realm Porunga’s unique strength stems from sheer chance, given the rare instances of dragons facing physical threats.
