Understanding Cristal: Police Confirm Liam Payne Was Using Hallucinogenic Drug on Day of His Death

Authorities in Argentina have confirmed that Liam Payne was under the influence of a powerful hallucinogenic substance when he tragically died. The former One Direction member fell from a third-floor balcony at the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires on October 16. The autopsy indicated he sustained “polytrauma”and “internal and external hemorrhage,”which were fatal injuries.

On October 18, Buenos Aires police exclusively informed TMZ that Payne had been consuming a hazardous drug known as “Cristal” prior to his death. According to reports, this substance can provoke severe mood swings, leading users to experience both “extreme highs and extreme lows.”

The police suggested that this drug likely contributed to Payne’s unpredictable actions, which culminated in his fatal jump from the hotel balcony.

TMZ also released exclusive images from the singer’s hotel room, presenting a disturbing scene featuring shattered champagne bottles, a broken television, and a multitude of drug paraphernalia, including various powders and tinfoil.

In addition to the chaotic items mentioned, images indicated the presence of a Dove soap packet, an empty glass, and wax remnants from a lit candle. Law enforcement also identified white powder traces in the room, later confirmed as cocaine by Argentina’s prominent newspaper, La Nacion.

Furthermore, investigators mentioned discovering “a bottle of whiskey, a lighter, and a cellphone” in the room.

Several guests at the hotel recounted witnessing Liam Payne’s final moments. One individual shared an encounter wherein they observed the singer disassembling his laptop in frustration over an email. They recounted:

“I went over, asked, ‘Are you okay?’ But he just kind of grunted. Then he said, ‘I used to be in a boy band. That’s why I’m so f**ked up,”

Another guest, identified as Michael Fleischmann, reportedly witnessed Payne in a heated argument with an unknown woman regarding finances in the hotel lobby. According to Fleischmann, Payne claimed:

“I’ll give you $20,000 just because I can. I have $55 million, and I like to help people.”

Fleischmann described the star’s demeanor as “extremely upset, agitated, a bit wild, walking around and pacing, appearing very energized.”

Prior to his tragic end, the hotel manager contacted law enforcement due to Payne’s concerning behavior, expressing fears for his safety.

During the urgent call, the manager stated:

“We have a guest who is high and drunk; when he is conscious, he is destroying his room, and we need you to send someone, please. We need someone urgently because I don’t know if his life is in danger.”

People magazine later reported that the British artist had previously been “kicked out” of the Palacio Duhau-Park Hyatt Buenos Aires before relocating to the Casa Sur hotel.

A source informed Page Six that Payne was “struggling with a significant drug addiction, and his treatment, as those close to him could confirm, was ineffective.”

At the time of his tragic death, Liam Payne was just 31 years old and is survived by his seven-year-old son, Bear, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Cheryl Cole.
