Understanding Cerebral Infarction: Symptoms and the Impact of Park Ji-ah’s Death at 52
As reported by JTBC, actress Park Ji-ah, known for her role in the popular series The Glory, sadly passed away on September 30, 2024, at the age of 52. Her death was attributed to an ischemic stroke, also called a cerebral infarction. Park Ji-ah experienced a stroke while she had been enduring a prolonged illness; however, her family chose not to disclose the specifics of her medical condition.
For context, a cerebral infarction, or ischemic stroke, occurs when the arteries supplying blood to the brain fail, resulting in abnormal blood flow. Brain cells that are not receiving adequate blood supply become deprived of oxygen, which can lead to cell death or permanent disability.
Common symptoms of an ischemic stroke can include one-sided paralysis, difficulty speaking, loss of control over facial muscles, blurred vision, and loss of consciousness.
On the morning of September 30, JTBC reported that the actress collapsed at 2:50 AM and remained unconscious. Her agency, Billions, released a statement to share the tragic news of her passing.
“This is Park Ji Ah’s agency, Billions. We regret to inform you of the heartbreaking news that Park Ji Ah passed away today at 2:50 AM at the age of 52 after suffering an ischemic stroke. The funeral for the deceased is arranged at funeral hall 2 at the Asan Medical Center. The funeral procession will happen on October 2 at 10 AM.”
