Unboxing of Alleged M4 MacBook Pro before Official Launch
This month, Apple is anticipated to unveil a refreshed MacBook Pro powered by the M4 chipset, along with new iterations of the iPad Mini, Mac mini, iMac, and the 11th generation iPad. Recently, a purported packaging leak came to light, hinting at some surprising enhancements expected from the upcoming M4 MacBook Pro.
The leak suggests that the M4 MacBook Pro will boast 16GB of RAM, 512GB of internal storage, and a formidable 10-core CPU paired with a 10-core GPU. A recent video from Russian YouTuber Wylsacom (via Mark Gurman on X) not only showcases a complete unboxing of the alleged M4 MacBook Pro but also discloses additional noteworthy specifications.
The packaging in the newly leaked unboxing footage aligns with previous leaks, yet it features the same wallpaper seen in M3 MacBook Pro models.
Unverified but appears quite credible: a Russian YouTube channel claims possession of the yet-to-be-released M4 MacBook Pro, providing a thorough unboxing and hands-on experience. While we’ve encountered early prototype leaks, witnessing a full retail Apple device weeks ahead of its debut is unprecedented. https://t.co/LYrt68ZmEn

This leaked video also suggests that the M4 MacBook Pro will include 512GB of storage, 16GB of RAM, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI port, an SD card slot, and MagSafe compatibility, which aligns with earlier leaks. Notably, in comparison to the current M3 MacBook Pro’s base model, the M4 will feature an additional Thunderbolt 4 port and double the RAM capacity.
Moreover, the Russian YouTuber conducted a Geekbench performance test, likely providing an early glimpse into the M4 chip’s capabilities. In the Geekbench results, which identify the M4 MacBook Pro as “Mac 16,1,”the device posted a single-core score of 3864 and a multi-core score of 15288.
For context, the baseline M3 MacBook Pro generally hits around a 3000 single-core score and 11800 multi-core score during benchmark tests. The significant performance increase may largely be attributed to the extra two CPU cores integrated into the upcoming M4 MacBook Pro.
While the legitimacy of the leak remains uncertain, a Bloomberg report from the weekend suggests that Apple is likely to announce the new M4 MacBooks “around the end of this October.”
