Ultimate OSRS Slayer Leveling Guide: Achieve 1-99 Fast

Ultimate OSRS Slayer Leveling Guide: Achieve 1-99 Fast

In Old School RuneScape, mastering the skill of Slayer is paramount for gearing up your account for the endgame. Not only does Slayer play a pivotal role in the overall game experience, but it also serves as a pathway to gaining valuable rewards and exploration within the vast world of Gielinor.

Despite being considered one of the slower skills to level up in the game, Slayer offers a unique advantage: it increases passively over time, allowing players to accumulate experience points (XP) without even being actively involved. This means that while you’re engaged in various activities, your Slayer levels can quietly rise.

On the surface, Slayer may seem straightforward—defeating monsters to earn XP. However, the reality is much richer and involves a deep dive into the mechanics of the game. This comprehensive guide aims to equip you with the essential knowledge to progress from level 1 to the prestigious level 99 in Slayer.

Enhancing Combat Level & Essential Quests

Before embarking on your Slayer journey with a new account, it’s wise to prioritize boosting your combat level. Higher combat stats will facilitate faster monster kills and grant access to more advanced Slayer Masters.

Although efficiency may not be key at every stage of Slayer, starting this grind later will generally yield a more expedient experience.

Begin your adventure by focusing on quests that yield combat XP. Notable quests include Waterfall Quest, Fight Arena, and The Grand Tree, which provide invaluable boosts to your early combat prowess. Completing the Dwarf Cannon quest is also beneficial as it unlocks the cannon, an essential tool for expedient Slayer training later on.

Though it may seem like a distant goal, completing the Desert Treasure 1 quest is imperative for acquiring the Ancient Magicks Spellbook, which is crucial for multi-combat Slayer tasks.

Starting Your Slayer Journey

OSRS Varrock Museum

Your Slayer adventure should commence with the Varrock Museum Miniquest. By simply answering questions related to the diverse creatures found throughout Gielinor, you’ll earn 1000 XP, sufficient to elevate your Slayer level from 1 to 9.

As you embark on your Slayer journey, early levels can feel sluggish due to the underwhelming tasks assigned by lower-level Slayer Masters; thus, any supplemental XP is highly advantageous.

Additionally, completing the quest “A Porcine of Interest”grants another 1000 XP, along with a brief introduction to the intricacies of the skill.

At this stage, concentrating on boosting your combat levels is crucial. I recommend engaging in activities that allow for AFK training, such as defeating sand crabs or ammonite crabs. Wearing armor will keep these foes from dealing substantial damage to you, allowing you to AFK grind while multitasking—whether it’s binge-watching series or working on other tasks.

Once you reach around 70 Combat and bolster your Melee and Magic skills, you can confidently commence your Slayer tasks. Although some players might opt to start earlier, the pace will be considerably slower.

Additionally, you will receive bonus points on every 10th, 50th, 100th, 250th, and 1000th task completed.

Efficient Slayer Tasks for Maximum XP

OSRS Dust Devils

Returning to previous mentions of the Dwarf Cannon and Desert Treasure 1 quest, these are vital for optimizing your Slayer experience.

Utilizing a cannon in multi-combat zones significantly boosts the number of monsters you can defeat each hour, providing substantial Ranged XP. While the cannonballs can be costly, the efficiency gained makes them well worth the investment.

Some excellent tasks for cannon use include Dagannoths, Ice Trolls, and Suqahs.

Moreover, employing Ice Burst or Ice Barrage against foes in multi-combat zones, such as The Catacombs of Kourend, provides a rapid method to complete tasks and summon valuable superior monsters.

To effectively gather multiple enemies, navigate a corner tile to group them together and unleash Barrage spells simultaneously.

Your focus should also include tasks like Jellies, Dust Devils, Smoke Devils, and Nechryaels, as these offer the highest XP yields and best chances of spawning superior foes.

While this strategy might incur costs, the Slayer and Magic XP returned is exceptional, often offsetting your spell expenses with valuable drops.

Once you master the techniques for efficient spell usage, the path to level 99 will become clear.

Always consider bringing stat-boosting potions and utilizing prayers during your tasks, even if it seems pricey, since it significantly enhances your hourly XP gains.

Managing Your Block List and Skipping Tasks

OSRS Block List for Slayer

Not all Slayer tasks are created equal; some may be exceedingly mundane or tiresome. For these instances, the Block List offers a practical solution.

By allocating points at a Slayer Master, you can permanently block a task from their assignment queue, with a maximum of 7 blocked tasks possible for a total expenditure of 700 points.

Strategically block tasks that are slow and have a high “Task Weight,”which determines how frequently a task will be assigned.

Personal customization of your block list can be based on whether you prefer AFK training or aim to maximize XP per hour.

Popular tasks to consider blocking include Hellhounds, Greater Demons, Metal Dragons, and Spiritual Creatures.

If your Block List reaches its limit, you have the alternative to skip an undesirable task for 30 points, which is useful for tasks that are competently manageable but not particularly enjoyable.

Commonly skipped tasks include Aberrant Spectres, Elves, and Mutated Zygomytes, among others.

Essential Slayer Items

OSRS Slayer Shop

To maximize your Slayer efficiency, it’s essential to acquire specific items that significantly improve the leveling experience.

Item Name

Black Mask

This item can be acquired from the Grand Exchange or dropped by Cave Horrors (available at 58 Slayer) for Ironmen. It can be upgraded into the Slayer Helm, providing enhanced accuracy and damage against Slayer targets.

Bracelet of Slaughter

This Bracelet enhances the efficiency of Slayer tasks by giving every kill a 25% chance of not being deducted from your task.

Expeditious Bracelet

This item doubles the chance of a single kill counting as two when slaying, particularly beneficial for tasks you aim to complete quickly.

Rune Pouch

Available for 750 points at a Slayer Master, the Rune Pouch can hold up to three types of runes, ideal for casting numerous Ice spells or using NPC Contact. It also helps streamline your inventory for looting. Eventually, it can even be upgraded for additional rune storage in the Tombs of Amascut.

Slayer Ring

This ring improves your quality of life by allowing teleportation to various important Slayer locations.

When it comes to armor, gear such as Proselyte Equipment is recommended to conserve your prayer points. Even while using magic for spells like Barrage, magic accuracy is less critical, making Proselyte a viable option in these situations!
