Act 4 of Path of Exile II is teeming with enigmas and features exceptionally crafted bosses. The environments are visually stunning, the water effects are breathtaking, and the adversaries are eager to take you down!
As you explore the diverse islands in this act, you may stumble upon a torn section of a map. However, the question arises: where are the remaining pieces, and what destination in Wraeclast do they ultimately lead to?
This guide aims to assist you in reconstructing the map while also presenting one of the crucial endgame mechanics you will encounter as you progress further.
Locating the Four Map Pieces

The Map Pieces are hidden across the following four islands:
- Whakapanu Island
- Shrike Island
- Isle of Kin
- Kedge Bay
Due to the procedurally generated nature of each PoE 2 map, the locations cannot be precisely pinpointed. However, each piece is typically found near a checkpoint. Look for them in caves on Shrike Island, around encampments on Whakapanu Island, or in other hidden corners of the map.
Persistence is key. Keep checking the full map, and you will discover the pieces, even if it necessitates a thorough search of each area. The map pieces are consistently found in the initial zones of every island, meaning you won’t encounter them in sub-regions.
To indicate you are approaching the correct spot, watch for a corpse that is labeled with green text hovering above its head.
Once you have successfully gathered all four pieces, make your way back to Makoru, who is aboard your ship, to have her assemble the map for you.
Setting Sail to Plunder’s Point

Journeying to Plunder’s Point allows you to summon Dannig, who will provide insights into the Expedition mechanic.
If you’ve engaged with mapping in PoE2 before, you’re likely familiar with this mechanic, along with events such as Breaches and Rituals. For newcomers to the campaign, this will be a fresh experience.
During this phase, you have a designated amount of explosives at your disposal, which you can strategically place around the area. These explosives are interlinked, meaning they can only be set a limited distance apart from each other.
Your objective is to maximize the number of explosives placed on various markers and flags scattered throughout the map. You also have the option to detonate Remnants, enhancing the rarity of loot found while also spawning tougher enemies.
Be cautious of Runic monsters, as they can pose significant threats, especially if they gain a 100% resistance to your main form of damage.
While it might be tempting to eliminate as many remnants as possible, consider the spawns first. Striking a balance between monster and chest spawns, along with remnants, is advisable for optimal rewards.A diverse approach can be very effective. Once you have set all your explosives, return to Dannig and activate the Detonator to commence the event.
After defeating the enemies that appear, explore the area to access and collect the loot you have acquired during the expedition. This initial encounter should be considerably easier than future mapping challenges, so stay alert.
