One of the most intriguing aspects of the class selection in Titan Quest 2 is the ability to choose not just one, but two different masteries, allowing you to mix and match for a truly unique gameplay experience.

As of now, there are four unique masteries available in the game, which can be combined to create six distinct classes. Each class operates independently, offering a plethora of gameplay options and strategies.

This level of complexity can make the decision-making process quite challenging. Once you commit to a class, reverting that choice means starting over from scratch—unless you’re willing to face this steep challenge.

In this comprehensive guide, I will delve into the different mastery options in Titan Quest 2 that contribute to this system’s remarkable depth.

The Four Masteries

During the prologue of Titan Quest 2, you’ll encounter a large glowing red altar, presenting your first mastery choice. The current masteries are:

  • Earth – Ideal for players who enjoy playing a tank role. This class provides numerous abilities focused on high fire damage and enhanced defenses.
  • Rogue – This class thrives on delivering high physical and poison damage. You can accumulate stacks and mark enemies for devastating burst attacks.
  • Storm – Serving as the archetypal RPG mage, this mastery excels in long-range ice and lightning attacks, as well as energy regeneration builds.
  • Warfare – Designed for direct confrontation, it offers formidable physical damage along with powerful active abilities that synergize well with other classes’ auras and passives.

After selecting your first mastery, you’ll have the opportunity to choose a second mastery soon thereafter.Both choices occur during the prologue, so if you decide to change your mind, rerolling your character won’t require too much time.

Additionally, players can access Core abilities—though not technically a mastery—these include skills in Dodge, Barrier, and Main Attacks. While important, Core abilities pale in comparison to your primary mastery skills.

Mastery Points and Re-Specing

Before exploring the concept of Dual-Classes, let’s discuss mastery points. Each time you level up, you’ll receive 2 active points and 2 passive points. These points unlock new abilities and modifiers. Completing World Quests scattered across the game can earn you additional points.

Active Points

When you allocate your first three active points into any ability, you gain one modifier slot per point. Beyond this, it requires two points per slot. You can assign a total of 17 active points to maximize your active abilities and modifiers.

Modifiers significantly alter how an active skill operates, with a maximum of five modifiers at a time. For instance, selecting the whirlwind modifier transforms the Sweeping Strike into a channeled spinning attack that continues as long as you hold down the action key.

You can utilize collected gold to reallocate your mastery points according to your preferences.

Passive Points

The mastery screen features passive points that enhance your build by providing stat boosts such as increased damage and energy regeneration, which are always active.

Instead of modifier slots, passive skills have Feats, which unlock after investing a specified number of points. For example, increasing points in Weapon Proficiency can grant additional attack speed and damage. Upon reaching six points, you can select a feat that enhances damage output or critical strike chance. Upgrading further to twelve points allows for a second feat selection.

Divinity Points

On the left side of the mastery screen, you’ll find the divinity bar. Invested divinity points unlock additional mastery skill options.

Initially, you’ll only have access to the bottom tier of active and passive skills. Allocating six divinity points reveals the second tier, while adding another twelve grants access to the third tier, for a total of eighteen points.

Reaching level 22 unlocks all tiers for both masteries, but players have the option to continue leveling up to the max level of 40.

Collect more divinity points by absorbing Titan Ichor throughout the main story and leveling up. Keep in mind that these points are shared between your two masteries, so strategize accordingly.

As with your previous mastery points, you can reallocate divinity points by using the re-spec function and spending gold.

Upon selecting your second mastery, you’ll create a fusion of the two masteries that forms a distinct class title. These dual-classes have diverse builds based on the combination of active and passive skills you choose.So go and experiment!

Stormblade

Alternatively, consider employing magical prowess. A Lightning Spear build enables players to inflict substantial lightning damage from a distance, where the Rogue passives help elevate damage and critical chance.

Battlemage

The Battlemage combines Warfare and Earth Masteries, ideal for players who prefer close-quarters combat. This mastery grants access to an array of physical and fire-based abilities, along with a naturally tanky build, making it suitable for new ARPG players.

Pairing this capability with Earth mastery allows you to convert physical damage into fire damage using skills such as Earth Enchantment and Ring of Flame. With these always-active abilities, your damage increases the longer you continue your spinning attack, requiring minimal player input aside from dodging enemy attacks.

Ashstalker

However, many powerful skills are skill-shot reliant, such as Trick Shot and Grenade, which demand accurate targeting from the player—a challenge for those less experienced.

Tempest

You could also explore a different approach by adapting the Fire Whirlwind build to use a frost-oriented Whirlwind, capable of delivering significant cold damage. Though this build may not deal as much overall damage, it compensates with superior energy regeneration, enabling longer spins and enhanced sustainability.

Elementalist

When combined with Ring of Flame to weaken enemy defenses, and with strong passives like Grand Magic and Storm Attunement, this build becomes both accessible and extraordinarily effective for any player.

Reaver
