Enhancing your protagonist and team is a crucial element in any RPG, including Metaphor ReFantazio. Leveling up presents numerous advantages, such as boosting your combat abilities, mana, and hit points (HP). The process of leveling up in Metaphor ReFantazio generally mirrors that of SMT or Persona games, albeit with some new features. In addition to advancing your characters, it’s essential to upgrade the Archetypes as well.
As you level up the Archetypes, they gain access to more powerful skills, although some abilities require specific levels in other Archetypes to be accessed. If you’re not familiar with the leveling mechanisms, it can become rather overwhelming.
This guide aims to provide strategies for quickly leveling up in Metaphor ReFantazio.
Tips for Rapid Leveling in Metaphor ReFantazio
Adjust Game Difficulty to Easy
Don’t hesitate to lower the game difficulty to Easy when you’re grinding for experience points (XP). This setting provides more XP compared to Normal or Hard modes. You can finish dungeon bosses more easily on Easy difficulty and save the harder challenges for the main storyline.
If you wish to modify the difficulty later, avoid selecting Storyteller mode. Although it grants significantly more XP, this mode restricts your ability to switch difficulties.
Additionally, utilize the Mage Archetype during explorations, as it offers an area-of-effect (AoE) attack that simplifies the farming process.
Complete Quests
In contrast to typical RPGs, completing quests in Metaphor ReFantazio doesn’t directly award XP. However, certain missions will unlock dungeons where you can engage and defeat enemies, which is the most effective method for leveling up rapidly. Taking on bounties also leads to new dungeons filled with monsters for additional experience.
While progressing through story quests, you may encounter certain enemies that respawn continuously. Be sure to farm these foes to maximize your level gain efficiently.
Focus on Archetype Leveling
It is advisable to equip the Archetypes you want to upgrade when battling standard enemies in dungeons. Remember to switch to your most powerful Archetypes just before confronting a boss, identified by the save point before the encounter.
You can also purchase XP seeds at various locations on the map. These seeds can be utilized in the Gauntlet Runner’s cultivation pod, allowing you to later harvest Hero’s Jewelled Roots, which provide 3,000 Archetype XP.
Another effective strategy is to consistently use the same Archetype in your party, as you can farm Hero’s Leaf of Light, yielding around 1,000 Archetype XP. This method enables you to level up Archetypes efficiently without the need for frequent swaps.
