The expansive Synthwave world within Hyper Light Breaker features vast, open landscapes known as the Overgrowth, where traversal can become tedious without the aid of a Hoverboard. Understanding how to effectively use this tool from the very beginning enhances not only mobility but also your overall gameplay experience.
Your Hoverboard acts as a key element to amplify your movement speed, allowing for quick navigation across the sprawling terrain while conserving Energy at a gradual rate. This guide will walk you through the steps to summon your Hoverboard and explore its various capabilities beyond mere transportation.
How to Summon a Hoverboard in Hyper Light Breaker
To sprint and summon your Hoverboard, simply hold down the Dodge input. By doing so, your character will dash forward and effortlessly transition onto the Hoverboard as long as Dodge is held down continuously.
Controlling your Hoverboard is intuitive: tilting the left analog stick in either direction will guide the Hoverboard, allowing for gradual turns depending on your speed. When reaching maximum velocity, turning becomes less responsive, while slower speeds provide greater maneuverability.
If you wish to dismount the Hoverboard, just release the Dodge button. It’s important to note that the Hoverboard will automatically disappear if your Energy is depleted during use. Keep an eye on your Energy level, which is conveniently displayed next to your Breaker’s companion while traveling; take a brief moment to dismount and allow it to recharge if needed to avoid unexpected dismounts.
Hoverboard Movement Tips & Special Uses
While riding the Hoverboard does not allow for trick execution or attacking, it possesses several unique attributes that you should be aware of. For instance, the Hoverboard is capable of floating on water. This means you no longer need to avoid waterways in the Overgrowth; you can seamlessly navigate land and water alike!
Additionally, you can press the default Jump input while riding to duck and prepare for a jump. Although there is no double-jump capability on the Hoverboard, its enhanced speed enables you to cross larger gaps with ease. Although ducking does not boost your speed or jump height, it can assist in timing your jumps with greater precision, especially over tricky obstacles.
