Ultimate Guide to Food Theft Quests in Avowed

Upon entering Emerald Stair, players will find a region grappling with the devastation of the Dreamscourge in Avowed. One of the crucial characters you’ll assist is Sielo Piannini, a farmer whose crops have been pilfered by the Paradisan rebels, adding to his distress as his wife battles illness.

In the course of the Food Theft side quest, you’ll confront a captain from the rebel faction, where your prior decisions will influence the unfolding events. The Envoy is positioned to make pivotal choices, balancing the needs of both the rebels and the farmer throughout this moral conundrum.

How to Trigger the Food Theft Quest in Avowed

To initiate the Food Theft quest, head north of Fior mes Iverno. Upon discovering a fast-travel beacon, you’ll meet Sielo Piannini nearby. Engage him in conversation, and he’ll express his distress over the theft of his crops by a group of rebels, which prompts you to navigate this side quest. If you probe further, he’ll reveal that his wife is in critical need of Rose Draught to recover.

Follow the marker on your map to reach Riverside Cave, where you’ll find numerous non-hostile rebels. As you delve deeper, Iglaf will issue a warning, influenced by your previous interactions with Ygwulf—sparing him encourages a more cooperative attitude from the rebels. This choice can facilitate further dialogue with Erlinn Matishell and Ortrud, shaping the quest’s progression.

Should You Allow the Rebels to Keep the Stolen Crops in Avowed?

Allow bandit to keep the stolen crops in Avowed

There are two distinct approaches to allowing the rebels to retain the stolen harvest: one being a straightforward agreement with Erlinn’s rationale, which not only yields you 350 coins but also reinforces the rebels’ hold on the crops. Sielo, understandably enraged, will demand your departure after hearing this news.

The alternative involves compromise; convey to Erlinn the dire state of Sielo’s wife and the necessity of Rose Draught for her recovery. In this scenario, the rebels will willingly provide the medicine while maintaining possession of the crops. Although Sielo may not appreciate this resolution, a reminder of his wife’s needs can temper his ire. Accepting the monetary reward nets you 350 coins, or you may refuse it to receive the Forager’s Friend Ring, enhancing your health and essence gains from food sources by 20%.

Should You Return the Stolen Crops to Sielo in Avowed?

None

Similar to the previous situation, there are two methods to return the stolen crops to Sielo, one of which is contingent upon Ygwulf’s fate. If you spared Ygwulf earlier, you can persuade Erlinn by stating, “I let Ygwulf escape, didn’t I? I’m clearly not your enemy” and request a gesture of goodwill, leading to her handing over the stolen crops. However, be cautious, as Iglaf may attack during your exit, prompting Erlinn to join you in defending against the rebels. A high enough Resolve may allow you to bypass this conflict.

Conversely, if you did not spare Ygwulf, resorting to a direct attack is your only recourse to reclaim the crops, albeit with the risk of igniting hostility from all rebels in the cave. Upon succeeding, you’ll return to Sielo, who will offer you a monetary reward, or alternatively, provide the option of receiving the Forager’s Friend Ring if you choose to refuse the coin.
