In your journey through the haunted halls of the Citadel in Hollow Knight: Silksong, you’ll discover a variety of engaging new side quests. Among them is the challenging “Fine Pins” quest, where you’ll need to confront some of the game’s more irritating foes.
This quest requires you to hunt down numerous pin-wielding choirbugs scattered across the Citadel, collecting their prized Fine Pins along the way. The drops are randomized, so patience and persistence are essential as you tackle this quest.
Despite the potential frustration, fear not! We have crafted an ideal guide to help you rapidly acquire these coveted items. Sharpen your Needle and prepare for adventure!
Initiating the Fine Pins Quest

To unlock the Fine Pins quest, you must first defeat the Cogwork Dancers, a formidable double boss found in the Cog Core region of the Choral Chambers. This encounter is a natural part of your progression in the main storyline.
After vanquishing the Cogwork Dancers, proceed to the right within their arena until you reach Songclave, a quaint village reminiscent of Bone Bottom and Bellhart. Here, you’ll find a lone NPC named Caretaker who shares the history of this once-safe refuge.
Enter the sole large structure in the area and interact with the machine, offering 80 Rosaries to activate the First Shrine bell, revitalizing the village. Leave Songclave, rest at the closest Bench, and return to find the village bustling with new visitors and a Wish Board featuring fresh quests.
One of these quests is the “Fine Pins” hunt, which I recommend undertaking alongside the Wandering Merchant quest for added rewards.
Locating Fine Pins
Your hunt for Fine Pins will lead you to two specific enemies: the Choristor and the Reed. Both wield pins as their primary weapon and typically require seven to eight hits to defeat.
Although they are tough opponents, their swift attacks can make encounters challenging, especially since they often appear alongside other foes, complicating your strategy.
Explore the Choral Chambers, particularly rooms with vertical layouts, to locate the Choristor and Reed. You need a total of 10 Fine Pins to complete the quest, and your luck plays a key role as the pins drop randomly upon their defeat.
Instead of wandering aimlessly in search of these enemies, focus your efforts on a specific vertical chamber located at the far right of the map, near two Benches and to the east of the Citadel Spa. This room is filled with chained platforms and multiple Choir enemies that can obstruct your path as you climb.
To maximize efficiency, position yourself at the top of the chamber, close to a Bench, and target the Choristor and Reed on the upper platforms. It’s vital to manage their positions to prevent any drops from falling to the ground or into spikes, which would cause them to vanish.
Although it may seem daunting, using a series of well-timed jumps and strikes can effectively deal with them. I recommend taking down the walking Choristor first, leaving the flying Reed for last.
Once defeated, check for dropped Fine Pins. If your haul is lacking, return to the nearest Bench to rest and respawn the enemies. They’ll continue to reappear endlessly, providing you ample chance to collect all the pins. Watch the accompanying video for a visual demonstration of this effective strategy—I secured all 10 Fine Pins in around 10 minutes!
Rewards for Completing the Fine Pins Quest

Upon collecting all 10 Fine Pins, it’s time to return to Songclave and interact with the Wish Board to claim your reward. If you find yourself in need of additional Rosaries for Pharloom, you’ll be in luck! Completing the quest rewards you with a valuable Rosary Necklace that grants you 120 Rosaries.
