Ultimate Guide to Farming Deep Desert Spice in Dune Awakening

Ultimate Guide to Farming Deep Desert Spice in Dune Awakening

In the vast expanses of Dune: Awakening, players venture into the deep desert to vie for control over Landsraad points, explore shipwrecks and old testing sites, and hunt for the valuable spice blooms that the Gesserit deserts have to offer. Engaging in spice farming, especially in the PvP areas, promises an exhilarating experience and hints at a remarkable potential for the game’s end-game content.

Recently, Creative Director Joel Bylos shared a comprehensive roadmap focusing on enhancing vehicle combat, introducing new Landsraad elements, and making the treacherous deep desert more accessible for those who prefer to avoid PvP. Having undertaken several exciting expeditions in these treacherous lands, I have been thrilled by the smoothness and excitement of gameplay, and I eagerly anticipate what lies ahead.

Spice farming can be a solitary endeavor, where players can achieve significant success on their own, or it can be an exhilarating group activity. I participated in what might be considered the most organized spice farming operation yet. Collaborating with multiple guilds, we strategically transported vehicles and resources, overpowering the spice bloom with our numbers and successfully extracting over 10, 000 units of spice dust.

This guide aims to provide you with insights into how to efficiently harvest spice in the deep desert of Dune: Awakening.

Guild Collaboration for Efficient Spice Farming

After connecting with skilled players Saigo and Boss, I joined their guild and pledged my allegiance to the Atreides faction. A few days later, while working on my base layout, I received the call to action: “Ready for a spice farming mission in the deep desert?”

This farming expedition brought together players from three distinct guilds, utilizing six ornithopters along with a sandcrawler to form a robust and efficient farming team, which proved to be an impressive effort from start to finish.

Getting Ready for the Adventure

One of the outstanding aspects of Dune: Awakening is its challenging survival mechanics, a factor that becomes especially pronounced in the deep desert. To ensure a successful journey, consider these key preparations:

  • Repair and refuel all your vehicles.
  • Pack additional fuel cells, ammunition, medkits, and softstep boots to mitigate worm threats.
  • Review your loadout, ensuring the inclusion of essential gathering tools, such as the static compactor unlocked after completing the second trial.
  • Use stillsuits to protect against heat and collect water.
  • Formulate a strategy with your team, ensuring everyone enters through the same desert entry point.

It was finally time for Boss, Saigo, and me to gear up and meet the rest of the guilds at the desert’s edge before embarking on our journey.

Effective Strategies for Spice Harvesting

Despite Saigo and Boss being seasoned veterans, even Boss confessed, “We’ve never farmed spice quite like this before.” Our expansive fleet of ornithopters soared into the skies, and soon enough, we spotted a massive spice bloom—target acquired.

As we neared the spice crater, we spotted a solo player using a static compactor. While a solo player might have felt intimidated by our approaching fleet, we had no intention of hoarding the spice.

To optimize your spice yields, leveraging the capabilities of dynamic vehicles in Dune: Awakening is essential. Here are the necessary vehicles for large-scale spice harvesting in the deep desert:

  • Scout Ornithopter: Use its agility to survey the environment and provide early warnings of potential threats.
  • Sandcrawler: This ground vehicle is essential for harvesting and storing ample amounts of spice sand.
  • Carrier Ornithopter: Useful for transporting sandbikes, buggies, and sandcrawlers.
  • Assault Ornithopter: Critical for providing protection to your teammates during the operation.

Once we positioned ourselves correctly, our carrier ornithopter dropped the sandcrawler, and the spice harvesting commenced. Several solo players approached, but quickly retreated upon noticing the six ornithopters in the air. With our large group, I felt reassured that PvP would not be a concern on this occasion; however, we still had other dangers to consider.

Navigating the Hazards of the Deep Desert

Every expedition through the deep desert necessitates constant vigilance and readiness to react swiftly to threats. Just as our sandcrawler finished its second lap around the spice field, the sand vibration meter suddenly shifted to red.

“Get your camera ready, ”Boss instructed.

Within moments, an enormous sandworm emerged, swallowing the entire spice field. Be proactive while harvesting to avoid losing your valuable vehicles—your carrier pilot should always be nearby to swiftly extract the sandcrawler if necessary.

Additionally, beware of smaller sandworms lurking in the area. As seen in the images, my guildmates may have teased them a bit, but we ultimately managed to fill our storage with spice and commence the journey back to our base.

Returning with the Spice Harvest

After our thrilling desert venture, we successfully returned to our rendezvous point on the shield wall, culminating in the moment we had eagerly anticipated—dividing the collected spice. Altogether, we amassed 10, 000 units of spice, which we converted into 150 units of spice melange using a medium refinery.

This experience was nothing short of remarkable, reinforcing the importance of cooperative gameplay. May this guide assist you in achieving your own successful spice harvesting missions. Here’s a recap of effective spice farming tactics:

  • Join a guild, build alliances, and collaborate in groups.
  • Prepare thoroughly before venturing out—avoid dehydration and running out of fuel.
  • Stay cautious; sandworms and desert marauders present constant threats.
  • Establish a base on the shield wall for effortless transport of resources and loot.
  • Utilize a carrier ornithopter and sandcrawler to maximize spice yields.

And always remember, water is life, spice is power.
