Embark on an intriguing journey in Atomfall as you delve into the depths of the Medical section of the Interchange, guided by the enigmatic Dr. Holder. Your primary mission? To locate Sample One, the inaugural sample of the Oberon organism.
Accomplishing this task not only furthers the plot but also unlocks a pivotal ending in the game. Luckily, this lead is quite manageable, consisting of only a few key objectives.
However, a significant decision awaits you, which we will explore in detail in this guide.
Locating Dr. Holder
To track down Dr. Holder in Atomfall, you will first need to secure the Church Cellar Key, which is hidden within the Medical section of the Interchange. The quickest route to this area is by activating Data Store C, accessible via the Slatten Dale interchange entrance.
Upon entering the Interchange from Slatten Dale, follow the illuminated white signs directing you toward Medical.
Upon arrival in Medical, take the first right, followed immediately by a second right to discover a small nook illuminated by a light. There, on the floor, you will find the Church Cellar Key along with a recording log. This key will grant you access to the basement door of St. Katherine’s Church.
Proceed to St. Katherine’s Church in Wyndham Village and unlock the door in the basement to meet Dr. Holder. Initiate a conversation with him to officially commence the Dr. Holder questline.
Don’t forget to collect the injection sample needle from his desk to boost your immunity against the Infection.
Locating Sample One
Your first task, as assigned by Dr. Holder, is to uncover Sample One nestled deep within the Medical facility. Fortunately, Dr. Holder will provide you with a keycard that unlocks a new area previously inaccessible to you.
Make your way back to the Medical area where you found the Church Cellar Key, and head towards the rear of the facility to locate a door that requires the keycard.Employ Dr. Holder’s keycard to access the door leading to the lower level.
Retrieving Sample One in Medical
Upon entering the lower level of Medical, you’ll confront a hallway filled with hazardous gas. To eliminate the poison, locate and press the nearby decontamination button.
Advance through the hallway and enter the subsequent room, where you will encounter a pair of Thralls. You can easily dispatch them with a Stealth Takedown, as they are unaware of your presence.
After neutralizing the Thralls, navigate to the central room and activate the Systems Power button to restore power to the area. Then, engage the Lockdown Controls lever, which can be found down a small staircase beside the Systems Power button.
This action will unlock the door to the nearby Auditorium. Proceed through these doors and continue straight. Eventually, you will encounter a cloud of infected smoke and a Thrall looming near a stretcher.
Utilize throwables to eliminate the Thrall before grabbing the Sample One cannister from the stretcher. Make sure to act swiftly or consume Strange Tonic to mitigate damage from the poisonous clouds.
Finally, head to the back room (located past the stretcher) to discover the Medical exit and make your way back to the Interchange.Deliver the Sample One to Dr. Holder to complete your quest.
Should You Inform Dr. Holder About Dr. Garrow’s Whereabouts?
After successfully locating Sample One, Dr. Holder will express his satisfaction but will request one final favor: information regarding Dr. Garrow’s location.
Before relaying this crucial information, it’s essential to know that disclosing Dr. Garrow’s location will ultimately lead to her demise at the hands of Dr. Holder.
So, is this choice significant? It hinges on your gameplay strategy. If your objective is to escape alongside Dr. Garrow to secure a particular ending, refrain from informing Dr. Holder of her whereabouts.
Conversely, if Dr. Garrow is not your ally and you prefer to escape quarantine with another character, feel free to reveal her location.
If you do decide to inform Dr. Holder about Dr. Garrow, he will confront her at the Central Processor location the next time you return to the Interchange, resulting in her death.
Note that Dr. Garrow will only be present at the Central Processor if you assisted her in escaping from Skethermoor Prison.
