In Hello Kitty Island Adventure, players can discover various resources not only on land but also in the ocean. Upon acquiring the ability to swim and dive, you’ll come across valuable oceanic resources, including starfish. While these marine creatures may not be as commonly used in crafting as seashells or coral milk, accumulating them is essential for obtaining new tools. The good news is that starfish tend to appear in consistent locations, making your search more manageable.
Where to Find Starfish
Starfish Locations in Island Adventure

The primary location for finding starfish is at the Rainbow Reef, specifically around the ruins near Comedy Hall. To optimize your search, swim down the pathway located behind Comedy Hall towards the visitor cabins, keeping an eye on the nearby pillars where starfish might hide.
It’s important to note that starfish do not spawn on coral formations (like coral milk) or along the Rainbow Reef road (where trash and seashells can be found).Instead, their spawning occurs exclusively on rocks and pillars. To efficiently gather starfish, you can utilize the Comedy Hall Mailbox to warp back and forth if you wander too far from their spawning locations.
When viewing the map of Rainbow Reef, direct your attention to the darker blue paths, as this is where starfish are commonly located.
Before you can start collecting starfish, you’ll need to craft the Snorkel item. The crafting blueprint can be obtained by embarking on the “Deep Diving”friendship quest, which becomes available once Kuromi reaches level 6. Having 1-2 Stamina Apples on hand is also recommended to sustain your diving activities.

Which Crafting Plans Require Starfish?

Starfish play a crucial role in two crafting plans: the Bubble Wand and the Gift Box.
The Bubble Wand, a tool that allows you to capture underwater critters for the Reef Critter room at the Nature Preserve, is introduced during the “Magic Bubble Wand”quest with Hangyodon. To unlock this quest, you’ll need to complete a series of prior quests, including:
- “Finding Flippers” (Keroppi, Level 1)
- “Open the Nature Preserve”(Keroppi, Level 2)
- “Bring Back the Swing”(Pekkle, Level 5)
- “Deep Diving”(Kuromi, Level 6)
- “Comic Relief”(Hangyodon, Level 6)
- “Enraging Ruins”(Retsuko, Level 7)
Once you have retrieved the Bubble Wand plans from treasure chests located near the Sunken Ship, Hot Springs, and Crystal Cave, make sure to contact Chococat near the Resort Gate to finalize the crafting plan for the Bubble Wand.

Fortunately, crafting the Bubble Wand only needs to be done once. However, with a requirement of 20 starfish, it’s advisable to start gathering them as soon as you obtain the Snorkel.
