Updated on February 10, 2025, by Jake Fillery: Players searching for ways to complete the main Easter egg on Terminus in Black Ops 6 are in the right place. This comprehensive guide offers step-by-step instructions for both Standard and Directed Mode, containing valuable tips aimed at helping players succeed in this daunting challenge and join the ranks of the few who have triumphed.
Step 1: Acquire the DRI-11 Beam Smasher
Crafting the DRI-11 Beam Smasher

To commence the Terminus Main Quest, securing the Beam Smasher, a powerful Wonder Weapon exclusive to Terminus Island, is essential. Players can obtain the Beam Smasher through random luck at the Mystery Box or by utilizing the Wonderbar! GobbleGum. Alternatively, crafting the Beam Smasher is possible, following these steps:
- Activate the AMPs to enable Pack-a-Punch and power.
- Turn on three laptops located outside the Storage Area, outside Communications, and by the Docks adjacent to the Sea Tower.
- Acquire a Deadwire Ammo Mod and shoot it at an electric circuit visible through a broken window in the Inclined Lift ascending from the Bio Lab, tracing the circuit to various electrical boxes leading to the Living Quarters.
- Access the Research Office at the Rec Yard, eliminate the zombie in the trap, and collect the EMF Fob.
- In the Sea Tower, home to Elemental Pop, interact with a briefcase featuring a hand attachment to acquire the Multiphasic Resonator.
- Interact with the Research Office computer a couple of times.
- Pay Peck 5, 000 Essence at the Guard Station for a code to use on the Research Office computer.
- Complete a Round, then go to the designated island marked on the computer. Place the Multiphasic Resonator near the glowing orb, eliminate the endlessly spawning zombies, then collect the pickup dropped by the zombie that glows the same color as the orb. Repeat this at additional islands until AMP Munition is available.
- Return to the Research Office to craft the Beam Smasher at the workbench.
Step 2: Secure the Hard Drive and Deliver it to Peck

Once the DRI-11 Beam Smasher is in hand, players need to obtain a Hard Drive, which can only be extracted from tentacle traps scattered across the map. Activating a tentacle trap requires spending 750 Essence. Caution: standing within the trap’s reach risks being lifted and instantly killed, so shooting at the tentacle will drop players if captured. Here are the tentacle trap locations:
- Outside the Mining Tunnels connected to the Bio Lab
- Outside the Sea Caves connecting to the Bio Lab
- Between the Holding Cells and the Guard Station at spawn
- Within the Living Quarters leading to the Wreck Yard
To retrieve the Hard Drive, look for an ID badge on the floor of these locations, activate the trap, and continuously fire at the tentacles with the DRI-11 Beam Smasher’s primary attack until the Hard Drive is released. With the Hard Drive secured, return to the spawn point at the Guard Station to see Peck and Strauss in the control room. Place the Hard Drive in the drop box for Peck so he can hack the central containment unit housing Nathan in the Bio Lab. Approach the unit in the Bio Lab to see Nathan, and prepare for the next step of the mission.
Step 3: Locate the Codes for Nathan’s Containment Unit
How to Free Nathan in Terminus

After interacting with Nathan’s containment unit in the Bio Lab, a cutscene will play, signaling players to gather three specific numbers from various locations in a precise order. Here are the number locations:
Nathan’s Cell Number #1

Nathan’s Cell Number #2

Follow the pathway from the Interrogation Rooms to the Mess Hall. On the eastern wall, there is a wooden pinboard featuring a playing card that displays the second number necessary for entering Nathan’s code.
Nathan’s Cell Number #3

The final number can be found in Engineering, near Juggernog. On the back of the northeastern wall, a sign reading “Safety First: Days Since Last Injury” includes the last number written in a white box. Collecting these numbers allows players to return to Nathan’s containment unit and input the code in the correct order to unlock it.
**Note:** Activating the valves on Nathan’s containment unit will trigger a boss fight, so ensure you are equipped with the right perks, armor, and Pack-a-Punched weapons in preparation for the impending confrontation.
When ready, interact with the four valves located at the back of Nathan’s control unit, locking yourself in the Bio Lab to initiate battle. It is recommended to utilize Pack-a-Punched weapons such as the GS45, Rare (blue) rarity weapons, Deadwire, and Jugger-Nog for this fight.
Step 4: Conquer Nathan in the Bio Lab for the Key Card
Strategies for Defeating Amalgam Nathan

Throughout the fight, zombies will continuously spawn, alongside Nathan who relentlessly pursues players. Nathan behaves like a conventional Amalgam mini-boss but possesses heightened health. To triumph over Nathan, focus on mobility and employ powerful weapons, including the Wonder Weapon and fast-firing or hard-hitting firearms upgraded with Salvage and Pack-a-Punch. The primary goal is to survive while bringing down Nathan. Beware: Nathan can consume nearby zombies to regenerate health, making it crucial to control the zombie population to prevent him from healing. Take careful aim at him from a safe distance while ensuring you evade his grasp, as it can lead to instant death.
Step 5: Obtain the Keycard and Use the Communications Terminal

Upon defeating Nathan, a cutscene will follow. Players should jump into the waters directly below the Bio Lab, diving to the Southwest where they can discover a Key Card located near the Pack-a-Punch area. Bring this Key Card to the Communications room, where a computer terminal displaying green text awaits on the top floor facing the wall. Interacting with this computer will reveal a “Network Connection Error” message.
Step 6: Repair the Computer with Node Connectors for the Hacking Device
This step will trigger a lockdown, summoning numerous zombies for elimination, so ensure your weapon loadout is solid before proceeding.

After receiving the “Network Connection Error” message, players need to take a tactical raft to explore the wrecked ship located West of Terminus Island. Navigate to the gap in the Shipwreck to access the lower deck, where a ladder leads to the Workshop. Here, players can pickup Node Connectors. Once a Node Connector is acquired, a lockdown will commence, unleashing a horde of zombies. Drop the Node Connector, as those carrying it cannot sprint, and prepare for intense combat against the incoming zombies.
Once the lockdown is over, the ladder will become available again. Collect your Node Connector and navigate to Crab Island. Directly across from the Workbench, there is a designated slot on the Southeastern orientation to place the Node Connector. If that slot is already filled, alternative locations exist.

Another spawn for a Node Connector is directly beneath the Sea Tower at the Eastern pillar, so return to the main island of Terminus to check off the next connector. The final connector’s location is on the main island, in the Sea Caves where Speed Cola resides. Examine the Western wall in this region for another Node Connector placement slot. Finally, players can head back to the Guard Station, interacting with Peck to receive the Hacking Device from the drop box.
Step 7: Hack the Buoys and Neutralize the Bombs
Guidelines for Using the Hacking Device

This phase of the main quest initiates a timed sequence, so ensure you are equipped with optimal weapons, perks, and defensive gear. Consider carrying Monkey Bombs or LT53 Kazimirs, along with Aether Shroud.
To initiate this step, players must utilize the Hacking Device on three Buoys located in the waters surrounding Terminus Island. Use the tactical raft to reach the sea and locate the Buoys, identifiable by the Parasites floating nearby. For each Buoy, hold the interact button when in proximity to hack it. Once the first Buoy is hacked, players will have a two-minute timer to locate and hack the other two Buoys in an anti-clockwise pattern. If the Buoys Losing Connection timer appears, it indicates an extra Buoy has been overlooked.
After successfully hacking all three Buoys, hurry back to the Bio Lab. The quicker players arrive, the better, as they will have five minutes to diffuse the bombs, or else the game ends. Inside the Bio Lab, three bombs await deactivation, which can be neutralized by interacting for 10 to 15 seconds. This presents an ideal chance to deploy Aether Shroud or Monkey Bombs, or to use the DRI-11 Beam Smasher’s alternative fire to stun or distract zombies while defusing progress is made.progress is saved even if the 15 seconds isn’t completed in a single go.

Explore through the Bio Lab, inspecting open windows and doors to find two bombs on lower floors and one bomb on the middle floor. Strategic deployment of Monkey Bombs is advisable before defusing attempts, as waves of zombies and mini-bosses will relentlessly flood in to disrupt the process. You have only five minutes to complete bomb deactivation, so if working with teammates, ensure everyone is equipped with distraction tools or effective weaponry to protect the operator.
Once all bombs are successfully deactivated, the Bomb Detonation countdown ends, causing the purple-eyed zombies to perish. Players are then poised for the final challenge: the climactic boss fight. Ensure that your equipment and loadout are as robust as possible; do not rush into the boss battle prematurely. Players can also pause and save if solo, providing an opportunity for further preparation later.

When players are ready for the boss confrontation, head to the lower levels of the Bio Lab and interact with the slightly ajar door adjacent to Melee Macchiato to enter the boss arena.
Optimal Loadout for the Patient 13 Boss Encounter
Preparing for the Patient 13 fight demands the strongest loadout possible. Stockpile Essence to purchase necessary ammo and ensure that you have access to all Perks, especially Jugger-Nog, Quick Revive, and Tier 3 Armor. Recommended weapons include the Krig C or the XM4, ideally at Legendary rarity with Tier 3 Pack-a-Punch, complemented with Shadow Rift as the Ammo Mod since both Patient 13 and other Amalgams are vulnerable to it.
Step 8: Conquer Patient 13, the Ultimate Boss
Strategies for Overcoming Patient 13

Equip the loadout featuring PhD Flopper, Deadshot Daiquiri, Juggernog, and Tier 3 Pack-a-Punched Wonder Weapons for optimal effectiveness.
Patient 13 serves as the Cthulhu-like main boss, challenging players within a vast, hollow arena. During this encounter, paying close attention to damage infliction areas and enemy attacks is paramount. Zombies will continually spawn throughout this battle, and an ammo crate is available at the rear of the arena.
This boss fight unfolds over three distinct phases, beginning with the relatively simple first phase. Patient 13 will utilize the tentacles on his back to slam down on players from above. Look out for additional tentacles situated around the arena that unleash lightning attacks. To inflict damage on Patient 13, focus on the red bulbs appearing on his shoulders and engage them with your weaponry. Carefully monitoring attack patterns will help determine when to evade and when to launch your own assaults. After sufficient damage is inflicted, Patient 13 will submit beneath the waves.

Advancing to the second phase involves eliminating any spawned mini-boss zombies. While this phase retains the basic mechanics of the first, the damage sites now shift to inside Patient 13’s mouth. Additionally, be wary of Patient 13 using his tongue from the back of the arena, as it may pose a danger when shooting for the mouth. Sufficiently damaging him will signal the onset of the third and final phase.

In the final phase, Patient 13 envelops himself in an electrical field, blocking access to the arena’s pathways. When he summons an electric orb, players should take cover until it detonates. To inflict damage during this phase, focus on his glowing blue eyes, shoot at his mouth whenever it opens, or target red bulbs that manifest on his body.
Upon defeating Patient 13, a cutscene will trigger, marking the successful completion of the Terminus Main Quest!
