Ultimate Guide: Defeating Everdark Equilibrious Beast in Nightreign

The eagerly anticipated boss encounter in Elden Ring Nightreign has finally arrived—the Everdark Equilibrious Beast, commonly referred to as Everdark Libra. This formidable opponent has proven to be a significant challenge, even surpassing the difficulty of the game’s final boss. With the introduction of an enhanced battle for this boss, players are finding it increasingly tough to conquer.

The Equilibrious Beast unleashes a barrage of Madness damage through relentless spellcasting and projectile attacks. To aid you in your struggle against this daunting foe and earn coveted rewards like Sovereign Sigils and delightful new Relics, we present this comprehensive guide on strategies to defeat the Everdark Equilibrious Beast in Nightreign.

Preparing for the Encounter

Before venturing into battle against the Everdark Equilibrious Beast, it’s crucial to equip yourself with essential knowledge and resources acquired during your exploration of Limveld. Gather items, passive effects, and enhanced gear that can significantly bolster your chances of victory in this challenging Expedition.

Here are important tips to consider:

  • Libra is particularly vulnerable to Madness, Holy, Fire, and Slash damage. Utilizing Madness or Holy Incantations, or finding a Madness-infused weapon, will make this encounter easier.
  • Melee combat proves most effective. While magic attacks are helpful, engaging Libra at close range forces him to rely on his quarterstaff, making his Incantations easier to dodge.
  • Look out for Madness-alleviating crystals that Libra scatters around the battlefield. Touching these will cleanse you of accumulated Madness.
  • These crystals provide lasting resistance to Madness—every advantage counts!
  • Be ready to mitigate Madness, Holy, and Physical damage. Equip Relics or passive effects that enhance your Physical Damage Negation and Affinity Resistance.
  • Utilize Raider’s Ultimate, Totem Stele, to shield against Libra’s projectile assaults if necessary.

In my personal exploration against the Everdark Equilibrious Beast, we received a notification indicating that ‘A flame of frenzy appears’. This event creates a significant red zone on your map, marked below, wherein players can scale a tower surrounded by frantic villagers to discover valuable Madness-imbued rewards such as Vyke’s War Spear or a Sacred Seal equipped with Frenzyflame Incantations.

However, this flame event appears to be entirely random and not a certainty during your fight with the Everdark Equilibrious Beast. If it does manifest for you, be sure to seize the opportunity!

Unlike other Everdark battles that typically start with the Nightlord’s second phase, the Equilibrious Beast initiates the fight with his first phase. He transitions into his second phase once he drops to around 70% health, unveiling new moves and mechanics as the battle progresses.

Understanding the Moveset

Below, we outline the attacks you’ll encounter during your confrontation with the Everdark Equilibrious Beast, along with effective counters. We will also delve into new mechanics introduced in this battle, including curses and summons.

Magic Attacks

  • Explosive Floor Sigils: Libra creates multiple sigils on the ground, which will detonate shortly after formation. Evade these by moving away quickly.
  • Projectile Cone: Libra launches a fan-shaped array of projectiles from above. Keep your distance until the attack subsides.
  • Projectile Sigil: A sigil that emits numerous projectiles while tracking players. Flee until it is neutralized, or consider destroying it if you are confident.
  • Madness Rain: Following Libra’s charge attack, a massive cloud appears over the arena, which you should evade to avoid damage as it crashes down. Timing your escape correctly can be challenging.
  • Holy Barrier: Libra erects a large cross-shaped barrier that segments the arena. Steer clear of these Holy walls, as they inflict damage and inflict Madness until they vanish.
  • Teleport: Libra will generate sigils and then disappear, reappearing atop another sigil elsewhere in the arena.

Melee Attacks

  • Repeated Charge Attack: Libra may become enraged, charging multiple times across the arena with his quarterstaff. Watch carefully to dodge aside based on his tracking. This attack is often succeeded by Madness Rain.
  • Quarterstaff Combos: Libra executes various combos with his quarterstaff, typically swinging twice before thrusting it into the ground, alongside single slashes that are not part of a combo.

Curses and Summons Mechanic

Once Libra descends to roughly 70% health in Elden Ring Nightreign, he reveals his first new ability: summoning a Condemned. Libra will call forth a clone of Nightfarers to confront you. A single Condemned will appear if you’re solo, and up to three if you’re in a trio. Prioritize eliminating these foes rapidly before returning your focus to Libra.

Moreover, Libra will activate one of six random curses as he summons the Condemned. You’ll see the curse notification in the top-left corner of your display, with various effects, including:

  • A demon incites a riot: two Condemned Nightfarers appear instead of one.
  • A demon offers a challenge: your team’s health is reduced by half until the Condemned are vanquished.
  • A demon reveals an inescapable eye: an eye appears above you, generating Madness if the Condemned aren’t dispatched swiftly.
  • A demon preaches madness: summoned Condemned may become afflicted with Madness, potentially targeting Libra or other Condemned.
  • A demon offers a false blessing: players are circled by three gold rings, causing any healing flask usage to cost a level before defeating the Condemned.
  • A demon shrouds all allies (exclusive to multiplayer only): fellow Nightfarers become invisible until the Condemned is defeated; however, they can still be seen as a faint blue/purple aura if downed.

The introduction of these new mechanics makes for a chaotic battle, especially when engaging in a trio. As Libra summons and curses efficiently, your team must strategize carefully. A solid approach in a trio could involve one melee fighter preoccupying Libra, negating spell usage, while teammates swiftly eliminate the Condemned.

Alternatively, solo attempts against the Equilibrious Beast are feasible, should you feel daring.
