Rocksmith 2014 Makes a Surprising Comeback on Steam

Since its inception in 2011, Ubisoft’s Rocksmith franchise has captivated music enthusiasts and aspiring musicians alike, thanks to its innovative blend of gaming and real instrument play. The series has grown to include a sequel, remastered editions, and a subscription service known as Rocksmith+. It is widely utilized as an educational tool, allowing players to effectively learn music through gameplay using actual instruments.

The Return of Rocksmith 2014

In a surprising turn of events, Ubisoft removed Rocksmith 2014 from digital storefronts in 2023. However, the game has recently resurfaced on Steam, heightening the excitement among its dedicated player base. Although the original selection of core songs has been omitted, a vast array of downloadable content (DLC) is now available for purchase, enhancing the game’s appeal.

Introducing the Learn & Play Edition

The latest re-release, branded as the Learn & Play edition, has been reintegrated into the Steam catalog due to overwhelming community demand. Ubisoft stated, “You asked for Rocksmith 2014 Remastered to return, so we did just that.”This edition provides users the option to own their favorite songs and enjoy beloved features such as Guitarcade and Session Mode.

Content Updates and Changes

To cater to newcomers eager to learn guitar, bass, or piano, the original licensed songs that were part of the basic game have been replaced with various teaching tracks and exercises. Fortunately, players will be pleased to know that all previously removed song DLC has returned to the Steam store, bringing the total available DLC count to an impressive 1,226, although it’s worth noting that in-game purchases are no longer available.

Current Pricing and Platform Availability

Presently available at a substantial 70% discount, the game can be purchased for just $3 on Steam. However, it appears that this revival is limited to the Steam platform, as console versions remain unavailable for purchase. Even the Ubisoft Connect platform does not offer a purchase option for this title at this time.
