Exciting Announcements from Ubisoft at Gamescom 2025
At Gamescom 2025, Ubisoft unveiled two highly anticipated additions to its acclaimed franchise, The Division 2. The announcements include the introduction of The Division 2: Survivors, a new survival extraction experience set to launch in 2026, which continues the ongoing support for the beloved title.
The second noteworthy announcement is a mobile adaptation, The Division Resurgence, a free-to-play MMO that promises to expand the universe of The Division series.
Details on The Division 2: Survivors
Ubisoft describes The Division 2: Survivors as an evolving take on the survival extraction genre, set within the established The Division universe. Development is currently in its early stages, overseen by creative director Magnus Jansén, a key figure in the series since its inception in 2016.
“The Division 2: Survivors is as much your baby as it is ours, ”said executive producer Julian Gerighty.“We strive for transparency during its development, focusing on clear communication and community involvement.”
Gerighty, who is also at the helm of The Division 3, emphasized the importance of engaging with the community throughout the development process. Although details about The Division 3 remain scarce since its announcement in 2023, the excitement continues to build in the fan community.

Additionally, a roadmap for The Division series was revealed, notably excluding any mention of The Division 3.

Introducing The Division Resurgence
The Division Resurgence aims to replicate the core gameplay of The Division series but adapt it for a mobile audience. This new MMO experience will transport players back to Manhattan, taking place a few months after the events of the original game.
While some fans might hesitate due to the exclusive mobile format, the title promises to enrich the lore of the series by bridging narrative gaps between the first and second games. As the storyline unfolds over time, it adds vital context for dedicated players.
For those enthusiastic about the story, registration for an opportunity to participate in a closed beta test is now available. This is a chance to engage with the evolving narrative directly rather than waiting for video summaries.

What’s Next for The Division 2?
The most recent update for The Division 2 was the Battle for Brooklyn, released earlier this year. Players can look forward to the next major update, which is the launch of Year 7’s season 2, The Pact, scheduled for September 9.
