Assassin’s Creed Shadows Update: A Look at Its Challenges and Promising Pre-orders
In a notable evolution for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is shaping up to be one of Ubisoft’s most challenging titles to date. This forthcoming title has faced unprecedented delays—twice, to be exact—while also navigating the complexities of featuring dual protagonists, a decision that has stirred some controversy among fans.
CEO Insights on Pre-order Performance
During the recent Q3 2025 earnings call, Ubisoft’s CEO, Yves Guillemot, provided an encouraging update regarding pre-order numbers for Shadows. He highlighted that pre-orders “are tracking solidly, in line with those of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which stands as the franchise’s second most successful release.”This performance hints at a strong anticipation among players.
Positive Reception from Previews
The game has recently benefitted from a series of previews by content creators, leading to positive initial feedback. Guillemot shared that the early reception has emphasized the game’s engaging narrative and immersive gameplay experience.“Both characters play crucial roles in the storyline, ”he remarked, noting the dynamic interplay between the protagonists as a unique element that enhances gameplay quality.
“I want to commend the incredible talent and dedication of the entire Assassin’s Creed’s team, who is working tirelessly to ensure that Shadows delivers on the promise of what is the franchise’s most ambitious entry yet.”
What Lies Ahead for Rainbow Six Siege
Looking beyond Shadows, Guillemot also hinted at an exciting development during the upcoming 10-year anniversary celebrations for Rainbow Six Siege. There are speculations that a significant engine upgrade may be unveiled, aligning with the live-service model that Ubisoft has been enhancing.
Future Directions for Ubisoft Games
In a subsequent Q&A session, Guillemot detailed the company’s strategy moving forward, asserting a keen focus on open-world action-adventure games and live service titles. He underlined Ubisoft’s substantial investment in building a robust lineup of products aimed at delivering these experiences to players annually.
“We have been investing significantly for a big pipeline of products for the coming years along our two verticals, [these] being open-world action adventure as well as ‘Game as a Service’-native experiences, and that’s what we want to deliver year after year.”
