Ubisoft plans to release 10 Assassin’s Creed titles in five years
Ubisoft has a well-established reputation for developing sequels and spin-offs of its popular game franchises, with the Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed series standing out as prime examples. Recently, a new report has emerged indicating that Ubisoft is gearing up for a significant expansion of the Assassin’s Creed universe, with plans for nearly a dozen new games over the next five years.
According to a report on Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed titles, insider Tom Henderson reveals that approximately ten new entries, offering “various lengths and experiences,”are slated for development. Interestingly, instead of the typical yearly releases or extended gaps that have characterized the franchise lately, Ubisoft is looking to launch these games within a tight five-year timeframe.
These upcoming titles could encompass a variety of formats, including mainline games, spin-offs, remakes, and mobile adaptations, such as the iOS and Android Assassin’s Creed game named Jade. “This initiative is part of Ubisoft’s strategy to intensify the Assassin’s Creed franchise,”the report notes. The studio has also confirmed that several remakes are currently in the pipeline.
Speculation regarding an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake at Ubisoft originated earlier in 2023, a claim that Insider-Gaming has now substantiated. According to Henderson, sources indicated that this title was initially expected to be released in November 2025, which was sooner than many anticipated. However, the recent postponement of Assassin’s Creed Shadows to 2025 has likely caused a delay for all forthcoming projects within the series.
Ubisoft has already revealed that the next primary installment in the franchise following Shadows will be Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, a game set amidst the eerie context of witch trials in a mysterious RPG atmosphere.
