Ubisoft has officially announced the cancellation of an anticipated event that was set to feature Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The upcoming RPG will no longer make an appearance at the video game trade show EGX in the UK, where it was initially planned to provide a playable demo for attendees. This decision comes shortly after Ubisoft delayed the release of the high-profile title.
Through its social media channels, Ubisoft confirmed the withdrawal from EGX, stating that due to the postponement of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, a playable demo at the event is now unfeasible.
“We appreciate the incredible passion and dedication of our community, and we’ve seen your excitement to get hands-on with the game. We sincerely apologize for any disappointment this change may cause.”- Ubisoft UK, shared in a post on X.
To our UK community. While we initially planned to have a playable Assassin’s Creed Shadows demo at EGX, due to the postponement of the game’s release date to 14th February 2025, this will no longer be available. (1/2)

EGX’s own social media echoed this announcement, stating that “unfortunately, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will no longer be playable at MCM x EGX following the decision to push the game’s release date to 14 February.”
This marks the second event that Ubisoft has canceled in showcasing its latest Assassin’s Creed title this week. Earlier on Tuesday, the publisher canceled its plans for the Tokyo Game Show entirely “due to various circumstances.”The delay announcement for Shadows came just a day later, seemingly triggering all these last-minute changes to event plans.
Instead of the original launch on November 15, 2024, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is now scheduled to release on February 14, 2025. It’s speculated that the lower-than-expected sales of another major title, Star Wars Outlaws, influenced this decision. Ubisoft also plans to release the game on Steam on launch day, as the company will be moving away from exclusivity periods for PC stores in the future.
