New Expansion for Ubisoft’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Announced
Ubisoft is set to enrich its open-world action adventure, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, with an exciting new expansion titled From the Ashes. Released in 2023 by Massive Entertainment, this game has already provided players with two engaging story expansions, deepening the lore connected to James Cameron’s iconic Avatar film series.
New Expansion Ties into Upcoming Film
Announced recently, the third expansion will chronologically follow the events of the highly anticipated third installment of the Avatar film series, Avatar: Fire and Ash.Omar Bouali, the creative director at Massive Entertainment, revealed to IGN that this expansion transports players to the desolated Kinglor Forest, featuring a new sub-region known as The Ravines.
Storyline and Gameplay Insights
In From the Ashes, players will encounter the Mangkawn Ash Clan, a formidable ally of the RDA—a human faction depicted in the Avatar series. The storyline centers around So’lek, an original character from the Trr’ong clan, who embarks on a quest for vengeance following a devastating attack on his family. As the plot unfolds, players will navigate through challenges in a world dominated by chaos and conflict as the RDA and the Ash Clan seek to neutralize threats to their power.
“From the Ashes is set in a ravaged and occupied version of the Kinglor Forest, which includes a new sub-region, The Ravines. It mirrors the themes of the film as it sees the RDA ally with the Ash Clan, fierce Na’vi warriors who thrive on chaos and pain as they intensify their efforts to eliminate threats to their regime, ” said Bouali.
Unique Features and Collaboration
One of the exciting elements highlighted by Bouali is a unique creature that will appear in both the game and Fire and Ash, showcasing the collaborative efforts between the game developers and Lightstorm Entertainment.“It is a process of strong collaboration and we each have been able to share and contribute in an organic, complementary way to ensure fans get an authentic and consistent experience across both the expansion and film, ”Bouali remarked.
Launch Details
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes is set to launch on December 19, 2025, coinciding with the film’s release. The expansion will be available for $19.99 on various platforms, including PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Furthermore, prior to the expansion’s launch, players can anticipate the addition of a third-person mode and a New Game+ feature, enhancing the overall gaming experience.
