Upcoming Release of Apple iPhone Air 2 and 3 Models

Recently, there has been considerable discussion surrounding the perceived weakness in demand for the Apple iPhone Air. This sentiment largely overlooks the success the device has experienced in China, where its unique eSIM-only feature has resonated well with consumers. Until just recently, eSIM technology was largely unavailable for smartphones in the region, contributing to the iPhone Air’s immediate popularity.

Despite the mixed reviews, Apple seems satisfied with the performance of the iPhone Air, prompting plans for its successor, the iPhone Air 2.

Wealth management analysts are adept at gleaning critical information from Apple’s complex supply chain, and JP Morgan’s latest investment analysis has shed light on the future of the iPhone Air line. According to the insights shared by analyst Max Weinbach, JP Morgan has projected the release of the iPhone Air 2 for 2026 and the iPhone Air 3 for 2027. This prediction challenges the narrative suggesting a potential discontinuation of this product line.

Further supporting this outlook, TD Cowen issued a note indicating that Apple intends to maintain its current production schedule for the iPhone Air. Their research methodology includes “field work”as a validation technique, confirming earlier forecasts for the iPhone’s ultra-slim model.

TD Cowen predicts production figures of approximately 3 million units for the third quarter of 2025, escalating to 7 million in the fourth quarter of the same year.

Conversely, KeyBanc Capital’s October survey highlighted a lack of demand for the iPhone Air, noting consumers’ limited willingness to invest in a foldable device.

Parallel reports from Nikkei Asia indicated that Apple is reducing the production volume of the iPhone Air while increasing the output of other models within the iPhone 17 range. This assertion was further emphasized by notable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who suggested that suppliers for the iPhone Air might reduce their output capacity by over 80 percent.

Nevertheless, in light of a firm denial from TD Cowen and a reaffirmation of commitment from JP Morgan regarding the future of the iPhone Air, it is reasonable to conclude that the iPhone Air 2 and 3 are indeed on the horizon—barring any significant alterations in demand trends for this innovative device.
