Samsung Set to Outpace NVIDIA in Profitability After Securing Exclusive 3-Year Display Deal with Apple

Samsung is currently enjoying remarkable success, consistently achieving significant milestones in its pursuit of becoming the world’s most profitable company. Echoing the adage “when it rains, it pours, ”the tech giant has recently secured a lucrative three-year exclusive contract with Apple to supply foldable displays.

Recent projections indicate that Samsung is on track to report an astonishing 57.2 trillion won (approximately $37.8 billion) in operating profit for the first quarter of 2026. This forecast represents an extraordinary year-over-year increase of 700%.Furthermore, it signifies a sequential growth of 184% from the 20.1 trillion won recorded in the last quarter of 2025.

Moreover, analysts at KB Securities anticipate that Samsung’s total operating profit will soar to 327 trillion won in 2026 and reach a staggering 488 trillion won in 2027. This trajectory positions Samsung to become the most lucrative company globally, surpassing NVIDIA’s expected profit by a significant margin.

In addition, a recent report from South Korea’s The Elec has confirmed that Apple will be exclusively sourcing foldable displays from Samsung over the next three years. This partnership adds a further substantial revenue stream to Samsung’s already thriving business.

For Apple, this agreement is essential, especially given the scarcity of reliable alternatives in the market. Competitor BOE from China is viewed as lacking in the necessary quality for foldable OLED technology, while LG Display has yet to provide evidence of its capability to manufacture such complex display panels.

Challenges compound for Apple with the introduction of its forthcoming foldable iPhone, speculated to be named either the iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra. The device is expected to showcase an intricate foldable display design, with the display layer sandwiched between dual layers of Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) and Ultra-Thin Flexible Glass (UFG).This innovative configuration is aimed at minimizing potential creasing while efficiently redistributing stress during the folding process. According to Taiwan’s Economic Daily, the anticipated crease depth on the iPhone Fold could be as minimal as 0.15mm. As a result, Apple has little choice but to leverage Samsung’s unmatched expertise in the foldable display sector.
