NVIDIA Achieves 94% GPU Market Share in Q4 2025 as AIB Market Faces Price Surge

The Q4 2025 GPU market report reveals a significant lead for NVIDIA, which now commands an impressive 94% market share amidst escalating prices influencing the AIB sector.

NVIDIA’s Dominance Amid Rising Prices: AIB Market Challenges

According to the most recent analysis published by Jon Peddie Research, the AIB market experienced a decline of 4.4% in shipments during Q4 2025, totaling 11.5 million units. This downturn is paralleled by a projected Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of -5.9% for the period from 2024 to 2028, with the anticipated installed base of AIBs reaching 172 million units. Notably, desktop PCs featuring AIBs are expected to rise significantly, by 103%.

  • The AIB attachment rate for desktop PCs decreased to 55%, reflecting a 12.3% decline from the previous quarter.
  • In the PC CPU sector, shipments showed a slight annual decrease of 0.7% but an increase of 9.0% quarter-over-quarter.

A closer examination of the leading GPU manufacturers illustrates a notable shift: NVIDIA boosted its market share by 1.6%, maintaining its lead, while Intel’s position remained unchanged, and AMD faced a 1.6% drop in market presence.

By the conclusion of Q4 2025, NVIDIA’s total AIB GPU market share has surged to 94%, marking a ten-point increase compared to the previous year. Conversely, AMD’s share has diminished to 5%, reflecting a ten-point decline, while Intel remains stagnant at just 1%.

The report cites total AIB shipments of 11.48 million units, which dips below the ten-year average of 10.82 million units for Q4. Although there was a 36% increase in shipments at one point, ongoing memory price hikes and tariffs have severely impacted overall market performance.

The surge in GPU prices primarily began in late 2025, setting the stage for relentless pricing pressures and scarcity observed throughout 2026. While tariffs impact the market, the key challenge continues to be the rising costs and availability struggles stemming from persistent DRAM shortages. Experts warn that these issues are unlikely to resolve quickly, further jeopardizing the AIB market’s stability.

Our latest analysis indicates that if current trends persist, the sub-$500 mainstream gaming PC market may all but vanish in the coming years—a concerning prediction that we hope remains unfounded.

Alongside GPUs, JPR’s Q4 2025 findings also highlighted a healthy uptick in CPU unit shipments, reaching 21 million units. Nevertheless, new buyers and builders of PCs face challenges due to the same memory shortages and price hikes affecting the broader market.
