Microsoft Reports 3X Increase in Daily Users for MS 365 Copilot After Promoting Consumer Adoption

Microsoft Reports Surge in Copilot Usage. Following its integration of Copilot across virtually all its flagship products—such as Windows, Outlook, and the Office suite—Microsoft is witnessing a remarkable increase in user engagement. Recent data from Microsoft’s quarterly report sheds light on this trend.

According to the report, the active user base for Microsoft 365 Copilot has skyrocketed by 10 times, alongside a doubling of average conversations per user year-over-year (YoY).

It’s essential to recognize that Microsoft 365 Copilot encompasses a broader range of functionality than just assisting users—offering features to manage Office files and function as a mobile alternative to Microsoft Lens. The company has strategically transitioned the Microsoft 365 app to incorporate these Copilot features, resulting in its pervasive presence across various platforms.

As Microsoft continues to enhance its Copilot offerings, particular features such as the Researcher Agent have been instrumental in driving this growth.“Microsoft 365 Copilot is also becoming a true daily habit, with daily active users increasing 10X year-over-year, ” stated a Microsoft representative. They further emphasized the strong momentum of the Researcher agent, which now supports both OpenAI and Claude, along with advanced capabilities in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Significant Growth in Microsoft 365 Seats and Commercial Adoption

The company also reported a substantial increase in enterprise participation in Microsoft 365, with the number of available seats surging by 160% over the past year.“Quarter-over-quarter, we observed accelerating seat growth, reaching 15 million paid Microsoft 365 Copilot seats, with even more enterprise Chat users, ” Microsoft noted.

Moreover, the adoption of Microsoft 365 Copilot among commercial clients is impressive, having tripled in customer numbers to reach 35, 000 seats, including high-profile organizations like NASA and the US Department of the Interior.

Consumer App Gains Traction with Nearly Tripled Daily Users

Although Microsoft 365 Copilot figures dominate the conversation, it’s crucial to highlight the increased utilization of the standalone Copilot consumer application. Microsoft confirmed that daily users of this app have nearly tripled year-over-year.

While no specific statistics are available for Copilot’s broader usage, the app’s integration into Windows 11 likely contributed to this surge.“In the consumer landscape, Copilot enriches experiences through chat, news feeds, search, content creation, shopping, and OS integrations, ” Microsoft commented.

Furthermore, Copilot is expanding into various sectors like shopping, bolstered by partnerships with major payment platforms such as PayPal, Stripe, and Shopify to create an AI-driven shopping experience.
