The Intel MFG leverages the innovative XeSS Frame Generation technology to enhance gaming fluidity by creating additional interpolated frames.
Launch of Intel Arc Graphics Driver 32.0.101.8425/8362 with XeSS 3 Multi-Frame Generation
Recently, Intel introduced XeSS 3 alongside its Multi-Frame Generation (MFG) technology, both designed to improve gaming performance and deliver a more seamless experience. The launch coincides with the release of the Intel Arc Graphics driver version 32.0.101.8425/8362, specifically catering to the new Panther Lake series, which includes Xe3-based integrated graphics processors like the Arc B370 and Arc B390.

The updated release notes reveal the official arrival of XeSS 3 featuring Multi-Frame Generation (MFG).Unlike traditional frame generation techniques that add a single interpolated frame between two rendered frames, MFG employs a more advanced method, inserting three fake frames between each pair of rendered frames. This significant enhancement is particularly beneficial in scenarios where games struggle to maintain high frame rates, leading to a remarkably smoother gaming experience.

It is important to note that while MFG significantly improves frame rates, it may not achieve the same level of visual fidelity as native rendering, potentially introducing ghosting and visual artifacts. As this technology is in its early stages, expect some visual inconsistencies; however, the significant increase in smoothness with a 3:1 frame ratio should greatly enhance the gaming experience. It’s also crucial to recognize that Multi-Frame Generation is exclusively compatible with Intel Arc graphics, which encompasses both discrete and integrated GPUs from the Alchemist and Battlemage families.
In contrast to NVIDIA’s MFG, which is limited to its RTX 50 series, Intel’s MFG supports a broader range of products. XeSS 3 MFG maintains API backward compatibility, meaning it will work seamlessly with all games that currently support XeSS 2. Consequently, almost 50 games that are compatible with XeSS 2 will also support XeSS 3 and the MFG feature from launch.
