If you have been considering an upgrade for your AM4 system, exciting news awaits! The fastest gaming CPU in AMD’s Ryzen 5000 series is set to make a triumphant return.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10-Year AM4 Anniversary Edition: New Packaging Revealed

Indeed, the eagerly anticipated return of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is imminent. Reports from yesterday confirmed that AMD’s inaugural X3D processor is making a comeback after its unexpected discontinuation last year. Today, images of its retail packaging have surfaced, affirming the launch of the 10-Year AM4 Anniversary Edition.

This revelation came from the reliable leaker @9550pro, who showcased the retail box’s design. While the overall look is reminiscent of the original packaging, the addition of the Anniversary branding at the bottom signifies its commemorative status. The processor is anticipated to launch in Q2 of 2026, with AMD likely making an official announcement anytime soon.

The Ryzen 7 5800X3D Anniversary Edition will maintain the specifications that made it a standout model upon its initial release. Users can expect the same powerful features: the Zen 3 architecture, an 8-core/16-thread configuration, clock speeds reaching up to 4.5 GHz, and a remarkable 96 MB of L3 cache. This chip was the pioneer of AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology, which triples the L3 cache size from 32 MB to 96 MB using an additional dedicated chiplet.

This unique caching structure allowed the 5800X3D to outperform many higher-tier Ryzen 5000 CPUs in gaming scenarios, often competing closely with the newer Ryzen 7000 series models. With the return of the 5800X3D, users of the AM4 platform can finally upscale from older non-X3D processors to significantly improve their gaming experience. Particularly at 1080p resolutions, this CPU will excel when paired with high-performance graphics cards. Given the soaring prices of DDR5 memory, the DDR4-compatible AM4 platform seems poised for additional longevity.

While we hope AMD will keep the pricing in check, expectations suggest that the relaunch will not dip below the $250 mark.
