At the recent ‘2025 Asia Pacific Sustainability Expo’, TSMC’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Sustainability revealed the company’s exclusive honey jars, created in partnership with local apiarists and Tunghai University.

TSMC emphasizes that, while driving technological advancements and developing faster process nodes, it is equally crucial to protect the local ecosystem surrounding its production facilities. To illustrate this commitment to sustainability, the company presented ‘Ji Mi’ honey jars in an array of flavors at the expo. Notably, TSMC’s eco-centric manufacturing practices have successfully contributed to the restoration of endangered species in the vicinity of its water-intensive fabs.

Water remains a fundamental resource for TSMC’s operations, ranking second only to electricity in importance for processes like lithography, deposition, etching, and polishing. Acknowledging previous challenges in water management, TSMC has implemented sustainable practices, achieving a remarkable “high water recovery rate”of 90% in its 12-inch fabs. Furthermore, the company’s goal is to elevate the recycled water replacement rate to 30% by the year 2030.

TSMC’s dedication to the environment is commendable, resulting in tangible benefits such as the production of delightful honey by the bees, which now play the role of ‘fab workers’ in this pioneering initiative.
