TRI.BE’s Future Uncertain as Management Agency Files for Bankruptcy: A Look at the Fourth Generation Girl Group

The Uncertain Future of K-Pop Girl Group TRI. BE After Bankruptcy Announcement

The future trajectory of the fourth-generation K-pop girl group TRI. BE is now shrouded in uncertainty as their management agency, TR Entertainment, filed for bankruptcy on March 13, 2024. This move raises pertinent questions regarding the group’s ongoing activities and prospects for survival in a fiercely competitive industry.

Bankruptcy Filing and Its Implications

On March 13, the Seoul Bankruptcy Court’s Rehabilitation Division 16 issued a summary bankruptcy ruling, triggered by the company’s assets being valued below 500 million KRW (approximately 344, 950 USD).TR Entertainment was founded in June 2020, primarily under the guidance of K-pop producer Shinsadong Tiger, who led the agency until his untimely passing in February 2024.

TRI. BE’s Musical Journey

In collaboration with Universal Music Group, TRI. BE debuted in February 2021 as a seven-member ensemble. Over the years, they have released multiple mini-albums, including notable titles like VENI VEDI VICI and W. A.Y., along with singles such as TRI. BE Da Loca, CONMIGO, and DIAMOND. However, their activities came to an abrupt halt following the death of Shinsadong Tiger just days after the release of Diamond.

Previous Financial Challenges

Even prior to this latest development, TR Entertainment had a history of financial difficulties. In 2017, the agency was compelled to seek corporate rehabilitation, facing debts amounting to around 1.7 billion KRW. A restructuring plan was approved by the court, mandating that the agency repay 70% of its debts over a decade.

Concerns for TRI. BE and Other Artists

The bankruptcy announcement has sparked anxieties regarding not only TRI. BE but also other artists associated with the label, such as EXID’s Elly and solo artist Yoo Sung Eun. Fans around the globe have been vocal about their wish for TRI. BE to be acquired by another record label, which could enable the group to pursue their musical ambitions.

“I hope TRI. BE can go to [another] company with their name or even with [a] new name. They have such a potential, ”one passionate fan expressed on social media.

“This does make me sad because this group deserves so much love and so much praise for their discography and the members individually. I hope that someone is able to pick them up and they can continue with their group, ”another fan reflected poignantly.

Awaiting Official Updates

As of now, there has been no formal announcement regarding the future of TRI. BE or the other artists under TR Entertainment. Fans remain hopeful for timely updates regarding potential new beginnings for TRI. BE in light of the recent turmoil.
