Welcome, fellow bracers! If you’ve already gone through my guide on the Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter: Prologue Walkthrough & All Collectibles, then you’re in the right place. If you haven’t, I recommend checking that out first before we dive into the exciting details of Chapter 1.
This guide is specially crafted to assist you in collecting all essential cooking recipes, books, treasure chests, and maximizing your BP bonuses through quests. Please note, however, that while it provides valuable hints, it will not detail every subquest step-by-step since those are clearly marked on your map.
For those interested in treasure locations, I’ll be including screenshots for each region alongside the corresponding quests. It’s easy to overlook chests if you’re not careful (believe me, I’ve missed a couple myself during my first playthrough).
Now, let’s jump into the walkthrough for Chapter 1 of Trails in the Sky. Forgive me, Nial, for the earlier mishap in wording!
Rolent
Book – Liberl News Issue 2
Your first action upon regaining control of Estelle in Chapter 1 should be heading directly to Rinon’s General Goods to purchase Liberl News Issue 2.
Bonus BP / Recipe – Elissa’s Entreaty / Sunshine Mille Crepe
At the onset of Chapter 1, Elissa has a fresh request that isn’t posted on the Guild board.You’ll need to visit her directly at Abend Bar prior to heading to Bose.

While at Perzel Farm, remember to check three different spots. When picking strawberries, select the ones with red seeds to earn your bonus BP. When milking the cow, opt for “Put strength into my thumb and index finger”for another BP. Trust me; I’m quite familiar with farming!
On top of that, upon fulfilling her request, Elissa will reward you with a Sunshine Mille Crepe, and this delightful treat will become available at the bar.
Verte Bridge
Book – Carnelia Vol.2
Once you arrive at Verte Bridge – Checkpoint, resist the temptation to speak directly to the chief officer. Instead, converse with Private Harold to obtain Carnelia Vol.2.
Bose
Recipes – Red Tail Soup / Fullmouth Soup / Astonishing Cheese Risotto
At long last, upon your arrival in Bose, make your way to Kirsche Bar and acquire all three new culinary delights available for purchase.
Recipes – Flowery Jelly / Sweet Castella
Next, wander over to the central market where multiple shops abound. The key destination is Catherina’s Shop, offering you two new snack recipes.
Recipe – Royal Omelette
After reaching Bose, head directly to the Guild. Following a transfer, you’ll notice two new requests on the board.One of these requests is for the Culinary Collection. Upon completion, this will teach our juniors the Royal Omelette recipe.
If you haven’t already collected the necessary ingredients, you can find Limera and Hresvelgr, two avian foes, as you journey toward Haken Gate.
Hook Gate
Recipe – Salad Sandwich
Proceeding to Haken Gate, make sure to stop by the Rest Area to continue the storyline. While at this spot, converse with the clerk to peruse his items and purchase a Salad Sandwich.
Team up with Joshua to cook the dish, unlocking the renowned Customized Dish: Potato Salad Sandwich.
Book – Carnelia Vol.3
While proceeding through the main storyline, you will naturally end up at Haken Gate. After conversing with the guard, be sure to visit the bar to meet the intriguing Olivier before returning to the barracks for a discussion with Morgan.
Do not enter the barracks just yet; instead, revisit the bar and speak with the older gentleman to acquire Carnelia Vol.3.
Krone Trail

After the main happenings at Haken Gate and escorting the best character back to Bose, you will unlock new subquests at the Guild. One of these, titled Escort Escapade, involves leading NPC Hart through Krone Pass to the checkpoint. You will encounter monsters along the way, presenting you with a choice.
Select “A frontal assault!”to earn additional BP. Regardless, be prepared for two battles either way.
Recipe – Cursed Fried Eyeballs
As you make progress along the Krone Trail, keep an eye out for a ladder leading to a lower level. Defeat the foes there and discover a chest containing Cursed Fried Eyeballs.
Ravennue Trail
Recipe – Beast Steak
If you have been diligent in completing subquests and exploring thoroughly, you may have already stumbled upon this dish. If not, the main quest will now guide you toward Ravennue Village and subsequently down Ravennue Trail. In the northeastern nook of the trail, there resides a chest containing Beast Steak. Enjoy it to learn the recipe!
Ravennue Village
Recipes – Apple Ice Cream / Fresh-Squeezed Juice
Moonlight Path restaurant in Ravennue Village only opens during your main story visit.
If you happened like me to jump to the village earlier for a monster extermination quest, then both the Apple Ice Cream and Fresh-Squeezed Juice won’t yet be available.
Craft an Apple Ice Cream with Estelle to learn how to make Apple Compote.
Nebel Valley
Recipe – Heaven-and-Hell Stew
Nebel Valley is an optional region in Trails in the Sky. However, if you’re undertaking all available subquests following the misunderstood scenario, one of them will guide you there.
In Nebel Valley, choose the west path to arrive at Whemler Hut. Speak with the resident and ask to sample his stew to receive Heaven-and-Hell Stew and learn the recipe afterwards.
Bose
Book – Liberl News Issue 3
After wrapping up the events at the Abandoned Mines, make your way back to the Grocery Minuet shop in Bose to procure Liberl News Issue 3.
Book – Carnelia Vol.4
Once your investigations in Bose’s South District are complete, return to the Bose Market and speak to Libro, who is stationed near the Grocery Minuet shop, to obtain Carnelia Vol.4.
Valleria Shore
Recipes – Silver Smelt Tempura / Miso-Simmered Carp / Grilled Orosho Skewer / Samona Meunière / Grilled Rainbow Fish
Eventually, the storyline will bring you to Kingfisher Inn, where a conversation with the cook will yield five additional dishes and their recipes.
Prepare a Samona Meunière with Joshua to unlock the Fried Samona customized dish.
Book – Hundred Day War – A True Account
During the pivotal cutscenes at Valleria Shore, you will encounter the book, Hundred Day War – A True Account, that Joshua was engrossed in. Following that, enjoy some enchanting music from the harmonica and select an option that either allows you to keep or give away the book.
Although I’m not entirely sure if retaining this book is necessary for the trophy, it’s wise to err on the side of caution. Choose “Do you think I can read it?”to permanently acquire the book.
Abandoned Mines

As you navigate through the main quest in Chapter 1, you will come across the Linde, after which Schera will challenge your powers of observation and investigation. Respond correctly to earn a bonus of 3 BP.
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter – Chapter 1 Chest Locations
Here’s a comprehensive list of all areas in the Bose region, accompanied by delightful images shared by Dorothy to illustrate chest locations.
East Bose Highway
The first highway you traverse when entering Bose connects Verte Bridge to the city itself.
Nebel Valley
This area is accessible anytime, but I recommend delaying your visit as enemies can be quite challenging. As this is an optional location, be sure to stop by!
West Bose Highway
This highway connects Bose to the Krone Trail.
Ravennue Trail
Ravennue Trail is located off the West Bose Highway and is essential to advance the main storyline.
Krone Trail
This pathway leads to Krone Pass, with one chest requiring you to descend a ladder for access.
New Ansel Path
The New Ansel Path links Bose to both the Amber Tower and Valleria Lake.
Abandoned Mine
The Abandoned Mine can only be accessed once, so be sure to grab the two chests located inside.
Amber Tower
The Amber Tower is yet another optional site within the Bose region, so keep progressing upward and search for all hidden chests.
Sky Pirate Stronghold
The Sky Pirate’s base represents the final dungeon for Chapter 1. Once you step inside, backtracking becomes impossible. Hence, ensure you acquire everything before tackling the boss.
