Prepare yourself for an adventure filled with sun-kissed beaches and formidable foes as we explore Chapter 2 of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, continuing from the Prologue and Chapter 1 walkthrough. A notable feature of this chapter is the significant increase in your Battle Points (BP), particularly at Jenis Royal Academy, where completing all sub-events will be highly beneficial before advancing in the main quest.
This walkthrough provides a step-by-step guide through the storyline, highlighting essential collectibles along the way. Remember, it is your responsibility to monitor the guild board consistently for subquests, which can be navigated using the map markers.
Now, without further ado, let’s embark on the walkthrough for Chapter 2 of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter.
Bose Market
Liberl News Issue 4
At the onset of Chapter 2, make your way to the Bose Market and initiate a conversation with the elderly bookseller at Grocery Minuet. She will have Liberl News Issue 4 available for purchase, although it’s disappointing that our fearless Bracers were not interviewed.
Cross the Krone checkpoint to enter the Ruan region and continue toward Manoria Village.
Manoria Village
Morning-Picked Herbal Tea & Stubborn Paella Recipes
Upon arriving in Manoria Village, your goal is the White Magnolia. Instead of speaking with the NPC to progress the story, visit his shop to acquire two new meals.
Gull Seaside Way
Bonus BP – Map Mystery
This subquest is not available until later, after completing the Investigation main quest. However, you can earn bonus BP before reaching Ruan. When a new character joins your party as a guest at Mercia Orphanage, proceed to Ruan. As you set foot on the sandy beaches for the first time, look for a blue exclamation mark ahead.
Approach it to find Jimmy surrounded by monsters, initiating a battle. Once you defeat them, you’ll rescue Jimmy. Later, when you undertake the Map Mystery side quest, it will be assigned by Jimmy again. If you save him beforehand, you’ll gain an additional two bonus BP upon quest completion.
Ruan
Azelia Rosé Recipe
In Ruan, visit the Lavantar Casino and Bar, officially a casino (though not yet operational), and purchase the drink known as Azelia Rosé. It seems they are serving alcohol to 16-year-old Bracers!

Joshua can learn a personalized dish while preparing Azelia Rosé. It raises questions about what Cassius has been teaching his son!
Steamed Roe in Sake & Healthy Rice Porridge Recipes
Upon your first visit to the Guild in Ruan, the route to the South District will become accessible. Head over to Aqua Rossa Bar to discover two new meals—unfortunately, they also contain alcohol.
Mercia Orphanage
Bonus BP – Orphanage Investigation
Correct Choice | Bonus BP |
---|---|
Someone started the fire? | +2 |
The thugs?! | +2 |
Your first main quest in Chapter 2 is to investigate the orphanage following an incident. After gathering clues, Joshua will solicit your opinion on the fire’s cause. Choose the second option, indicating the fire was set intentionally, to earn two bonus BP.
You will then visit Manoria Village to speak with Matron Theresa at the inn. Following a long cutscene, you will exit the building automatically.
Once outside, Mary will engage you, and you must choose “the thugs?!”to receive another two bonus BP, completing the Orphanage Investigation.
Ruan
Liberl News Issue 5
After concluding your investigation at Mercia Orphanage, your next stop is Manoria Village, then back to Ruan.
Before taking the ferry across the river, be sure to stop by O’Neil Duty-Free Shop and acquire Liberl News Issue 5.
Azure Tower
Blazing Fried Chicken Recipe
Once Kloe joins your party, numerous new subquests will become available at the Guild. One subquest involves recovering an Orbal Gun, which will lead you to Azure Tower’s entrance. While nearby, take a moment to explore it; one of the chests on the fifth floor contains Blazing Fried Chicken. Consuming it will unlock the recipe.

If you have the necessary ingredients, prepare Blazing Fried Chicken with Estelle to learn the Cheesy Chicken Burger customized recipe.
Air-Letten
Bonus BP – Delicate Diplomacy
Correct Choice | Bonus BP |
---|---|
Your Grace, we have come for you. | +2 |
Either one | |
What?! In such a low-class place…? | |
Ah! By your feet, Your Excellency… |
The Delicate Diplomacy subquest leads you to the Air-Letten checkpoint. Your task is to persuade a haughty royal member to leave his quarters. Regardless of your chosen response, the quest will conclude. However, selecting the correct options (except the second one) will net you two additional BP upon turning it in.
Salt-Crusted Small Fish Recipe
Upon completing the previous subquest, return to Air-Letten and converse with Caesar, the shopkeeper. He offers the Salt-Crusted Small Fish meal.
Royal Academy Type
Lunch Recipe Types
As you reach the midpoint of Chapter 2, you will enter the arc for Jenis Royal Academy. While in the cafeteria, be sure to purchase a Jenis Lunch.
Bonus BP – A Festival Favor
After finishing all the rehearsals and classes, you regain control of Estelle. Your next primary destination is the dean’s office. However, you’ll notice several blue exclamation mark sub-events on the map.
These represent side activities you can complete for bonus BP. They are straightforward, with all locations indicated on the map. For efficiency, start with Janitor Parkes, whose sub-event is near the main building. He’ll ask you to locate three flagless spots on campus. Simply examine them to complete the request and earn bonus BP.
Next, head to the second floor of the Clubhouse’s Material Archives room to speak with Logan. He will task you with finding the Ruan Economic History book trilogy. Markers will guide you to the locations.
Books – Ruan Economic History 1/2/3
These books are cataloged as collectibles. It’s likely they contribute toward a trophy, so it’s best to collect them all to secure bonus BP:
- One book is found in the room adjacent to Logan’s.
- The second is in the Faculty Lounge within the main building.
- The third resides in the Boy’s Dorm.
After gathering all the books, return to Logan to hand them in. They will remain registered in your collection interface.
Finally, approach the Old Schoolhouse situated at the far end of the Academy. A cutscene will trigger, and you must expel some monsters. The enemies include Lap Spiders and Mini Spiders. While a real-time battle may suffice, I opted for fire-elemental Arts while playing on Nightmare difficulty.
Upon vanquishing the foes, the game will inform you of your success. Before exiting the building, collect all glowing items scattered on the floor, as they will be inaccessible once you leave. They may all be U-Material, but they are worth collecting. Completing this task will reward you with three bonus BP for your spider-slaying efforts, allowing you to progress with the main storyline.
Recipes – Crunchy Popcorn, Royal Crepe, Orange Ice Cream, Coffee Ice Cream, Rainbow Jelly Beans
As the festival commences, indulge yourself at the park’s center, where four new snack shops will be available. These represent the final collectibles within the academy.
Ruan
Book – Carnelia Vol.5

After completing the Jenis Royal Academy arc, a new main quest will activate as you stroll down the path. Instead of heading directly there, return to Ruan and speak with Matilda, the girl located on the bridge, to acquire Carnelia Vol.5.
After this, there will be no additional collectibles or subquests to pursue. Simply adhere to the main storyline. You’ll encounter two new choices along the journey, but your selection will not affect your BP, as neither option grants bonus points.
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter – Chapter 2 Chest Locations
Below are screenshots detailing the locations of every chest found within the Ruan region. Notably, there are no chests at Jenis Royal Academy.

That concludes all missable items and collectibles for Chapter 2. Now, prepare to journey to the Industrial City of Zeiss in the Chapter 3 walkthrough of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter.
