Tory Lanez Accuses Ex-Lawyer Shawn Holley of Roc Nation Connections in New Ethics Complaint
Tory Lanez has recently leveled accusations against his former legal representative, Shawn Holley, alleging that she undermined his defense in the case pertaining to the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. Court documents, as reported by TMZ, reveal Lanez’s contention that Holley acted against his interests because of her affiliations with Roc Nation.
Lanez claims that Roc Nation exerted pressure on Holley to steer him towards accepting a plea deal, citing the Hulu series *Reasonable Doubt*, which is loosely inspired by Holley’s professional journey, as evidence of a possible conflict of interest.
This claim arises from the series featuring Megan’s popular *Savage* remix alongside a song performed by Holley’s daughter, who serves as a backup singer for Beyoncé, the spouse of Jay-Z — the founder of Roc Nation. In a statement to TMZ, Holley rejected Lanez’s assertions, declaring them groundless:
“Mr. Peterson brought these meritless claims to the State Bar over a year ago, and they were summarily rejected and the matter was promptly closed. His actions to publicize this failed effort are likely tied to the appeal of his criminal conviction, for which I wish him well.”
For context, Tory Lanez was convicted of several charges connected to the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, an artist represented by Roc Nation. In contrast, Shawn Holley is a partner at Kinsella Holley Iser Kump Steinsapir LLP, a law firm primarily serving clients in the entertainment sector.
In addition to Lanez, Holley has represented a host of high-profile artists and celebrities, including Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg, Lamar Odom, and Mike Tyson.

Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison in August 2023
Tory Lanez was arrested on July 12, 2020, for allegedly possessing a concealed weapon in his vehicle following a dispute at a party in Hollywood Hills. At that time, Megan Thee Stallion, who was present, initially cited an injury from shattered glass. She later took to social media to clarify that she had been shot in the foot and underwent surgery.
In August 2020, Megan publicly accused Lanez of shooting her. In turn, Lanez released an album in September 2020, where he denied the claims and suggested he was being framed. The subsequent month, he faced felony charges for assault with a firearm and the possession of an unregistered firearm.
Megan obtained a protective order that required Lanez to maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from her and prohibited any form of contact. In April 2022, he faced a brief detention for allegedly violating this order but was released after posting a higher bond.
In August 2023, he was sentenced to 10 years behind bars. However, this ruling is currently being contested as Lanez has appealed for a re-examination of the case. His legal team remarked:
“It is more than an abstract possibility that the jury could have been swayed by positive DNA test results showing Ms. Harris’s DNA contributed to one of the four profiles recovered from the magazine and firearm.”
They further elaborated:
“If the prosecution had presented such evidence to the jury or the defense, it stands to reason that a reasonable juror could have concluded there was sufficient doubt concerning Mr. Peterson’s involvement in firing the weapon. Given the totality of circumstances in Mr. Peterson’s trial, it is evident that a miscarriage of justice occurred.”
According to *All Hip Hop*, Tory Lanez remains in custody in California. Meanwhile, Holley has not yet commented on Lanez’s allegations against her.
