Top star wanted Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair to headline historic WWE event; Vince McMahon rejected the request

A former WWE wrestler has disclosed that Vince McMahon denied her plea to have Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch as the main event of a significant show.

At the 2018 Evolution event, Ronda Rousey and Nikki Bella were the main event. The two competed for Rousey’s RAW Women’s Title, and ultimately, Rousey emerged victorious, successfully defending her belt.

According to her latest book, The Baddest Woman On The Planet expressed her desire for Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair to headline the event. Despite the fact that the two had a Last Woman Standing Match for the SmackDown Women’s Title on the same night, with Lynch emerging victorious, Rousey’s request was reportedly rejected by Vince McMahon, resulting in her headlining the historic event instead.

Ronda Rousey’s Response to the Allegations Against Vince McMahon

Earlier this year, Janel Grant, a former employee of WWE, filed a lawsuit against McMahon for allegations of sex trafficking and sexual assault. In a recent interview with NewsNation, Rousey stated that she was not surprised by the allegations.

“It’s not surprising. I can tell you the reason why nobody else is speaking out is because they know that there will be negative repercussions if they say anything about the company that the company doesn’t like. Everybody is being held hostage by their careers, but since I don’t plan on going back there unless they make some very major changes, I feel free to say whatever I want to say, which I’ve always felt that way. I don’t really care if they have me back or not. I can wrestle wherever I want to wrestle and the truth should be told,”she said. [H/T Fightful]

Rousey’s WWE career has consisted of two extended periods, the most recent of which concluded at SummerSlam 2023. Throughout her time in the WWE, she achieved the RAW Women’s Championship and was also a two-time SmackDown Women’s Champion.
