Top Honkai Star Rail Acheron Build Guide: Light Cone, Relics, and Team Compositions

UPDATE 11/12/2024: We have updated this page with some additional information on how to make a strong Acheron build, as well as whether or not the Nihility character is worth building in Honkai Star Rail.

Crafting the ultimate Acheron build in Honkai Star Rail might seem easy at first glance, particularly due to the Emanator’s distinctive approach to the path of Nihility. However, Acheron’s mechanics necessitate a lack of effect hit rate, which consequently restricts the availability of suitable Light Cones. Despite Acheron being part of the roster for some time now, HoYoverse has yet to introduce new (or free) Light Cones that align perfectly with her skill set.

Nevertheless, pairing her with a strong Relic set and compatible allies can significantly enhance Acheron’s performance. If you include at least one additional Nihility character who specializes in applying debuffs, Acheron can unleash substantial damage on opponents.

This guide provides a comprehensive overview of the ideal Light Cones and Relics for Acheron, along with strategic team formations. For those interested in what materials are necessary to level her up, keep an eye on our Acheron materials list. Additionally, if you’re curious about the priority order for Acheron’s Traces, we have a guide covering that aspect as well.

Top Acheron Build in Honkai Star Rail

Best Light Cones for Acheron

5-Star Light Cones for Acheron

The premier Light Cone for Acheron is undoubtedly Along the Passing Shore, which boosts her critical damage by a striking 24 percent. This Light Cone also activates the Mirage Fizzle effect on enemies she attacks, increasing the damage they receive by 24 percent for one turn and enhancing Acheron’s ultimate damage by 24 percent as well. Such potent buffs can be complemented by characters like Pela, who excels at reducing enemy defenses, and by achieving high crit damage rolls on your Relics.

While there are no 5-star Light Cones that perfectly mirror Acheron’s abilities, Welt’s In The Name of the World proves to be a valuable alternative. It raises damage against debuffed enemies by 20 percent, and boosts skill damage by 24 percent. Acheron’s skill chiefly applies Crimson Knot, making any additional damage particularly beneficial.

Another solid choice is Kafka’s Patience is All You Need, which enhances Acheron’s speed by 4.8 percent with each attack (stacking three times) and inflicts lightning damage based on 60 percent of the user’s attack. It also provides a 24 percent damage increase.

4-Star Light Cones for Acheron

Among the 4-star options, Boundless Choreo is often featured in Acheron’s Light Cone banner. This Light Cone amplifies crit rate by 8 percent and allows the user to deal 24 percent more crit damage to enemies suffering from reduced defenses. Therefore, you should pair Acheron with Pela or Black Swan, or anyone utilizing Resolution Shines as Pearls of Sweat to mitigate enemy defenses effectively.

When considering 4-star choices, Good Night and Sleep Well stands out as Acheron’s best option. This Light Cone enables the user to inflict 12 percent more damage on enemies with debuffs, with the effect stacking three times. Given that Acheron’s opponents frequently bear debuffs, this buff is almost always active.

For those starting out, the free Light Cone It’s Showtime is another viable option, granting a Trick stack upon debuff application. Each stack increases damage dealt by 6 percent, up to a maximum of 18 percent. Although it requires a bit more time to reach full effectiveness due to the user needing to apply the debuff, it remains a commendable starting choice if Good Night and Sleep Well is unavailable.

Ideal Relics for Acheron

The Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters Relic set is Acheron’s premium choice, delivering impressive results against debuffed foes.

  • Two-Piece Effect: Increases damage dealt to debuffed enemies by 12 percent.
  • Four-Piece Effect: Increases crit rate by 4 percent, allowing the user to inflict extra crit damage of 8/12 percent on opponents with two or three debuffs. Upon the application of a debuff, the Relic buffs double for one turn.

Acheron applies debuffs through the Crimson Knot skill, and since she must always accompany another Nihility character, the full potency of the Relic set is typically active. Timing is crucial for optimal usage, especially aiming to unleash Acheron’s ultimate right after applying Crimson Knot to maximize the bonus.

An excellent alternative from version 2.6 is the Relic set Scholar Lost in Erudition.

  • Two-Piece Effect: Increases crit rate by 8 percent.
  • Four-Piece Effect: Augments skill and ultimate damage by 20 percent. Additionally, the skill will deal 25 percent more damage after the character uses their ultimate.

Acheron’s Ornament Recommendations

For Acheron’s ornament set, Izumo Gensei and Takama Divine Realm shines, becoming available in Simulated Universe World 9. This set increases the user’s attack by 12 percent and bestows an additional 12 percent crit rate buff if at least one other party member shares the same path.

It’s important to note that unlocking World 9 in Honkai Star Rail may take some time. As a temporary alternative, consider Inert Salsotto, which adds an 8 percent crit rate buff. When the wearer’s crit rate surpasses 50 percent, their ultimate damage increases by 15 percent.

An additional option, Space Sealing Station, boosts the wearer’s attack by 12 percent, with a further 12 percent increase if Acheron’s speed reaches 120 or more.

Essential Substats for Acheron

Acheron’s stat requirements vary based on her teammates and Relic choices. For instance, the need for speed and crit damage can be lessened when paired with Sparkle, as Aventurine’s ultimate introduces a debuff making enemies more susceptible to crit damage. The widespread guideline is to aim for an 80 percent crit rate, with some of that potentially achievable during combat through Relic effects.

Here’s a general overview of desirable substats:

  • Body: Crit rate or crit damage, tailored to your strategy.
  • Feet: Speed or attack percentage.
  • Sphere: Attack percentage or lightning damage.
  • Rope: Attack percentage.

Crit rate and crit damage are the most advantageous substats to prioritize. If you’re equipping attack-boosting footwear without Sparkle or Bronya on the team, consider acquiring speed as a substat as well.

Optimal Teams for Acheron

Acheron’s A4 bonus Trace highlights the importance of incorporating at least one other Nihility character in her squad. This bonus Trace amplifies damage from basic attacks, skills, and ultimates by 116/160 percent when one or two other Nihility characters are present with Acheron.

Black Swan was initially a perfect match for Acheron in the early 2.X patches; however, Jiaoqiu has since become her top companion due to his unique support abilities. Nevertheless, Black Swan remains an exceptional choice, especially if Acheron is utilizing a Light Cone that requires defense reduction.

Potential team configurations include:

  • Acheron
  • Black Swan or Jiaoqiu
  • Silver Wolf or Pela
  • Aventurine or Fu Xuan

Both Black Swan and Jiaoqiu provide crucial debuffs, enhancing damage taken by enemies. Silver Wolf efficiently applies defense and speed reduction debuffs without consuming skill points, making her ideal for teams that need SP management. Pela excels at dismantling enemy defenses with her skill. Additionally, Aventurine’s ultimate causes foes to endure greater crit damage, while Fu Xuan’s Matrix of Prescience advances the party’s crit rate.

In some cases, teams may prioritize support characters over a second Nihility character, such as Sparkle, who can increase Acheron’s turn efficiency, boost her crit damage, and provide the team with extra skill points.

Evaluating Acheron’s Effectiveness in Honkai Star Rail

In the realm of Honkai Star Rail, Acheron is an outstanding character who ranks among the top DPS options available. Her capabilities often overshadow those of other DPS characters across various encounters. However, if you already possess Feixiao, Jing Yuan, or Yunli, and lack robust support or sustain characters, it may be wise to reserve your Stellar Jade for them.

That said, Acheron remains accessible to build, even for free-to-play players. Her kit is versatile and powerful, making it possible to leverage her effectively, even without the most optimized team setups. Overall, Acheron is a character worth pursuing anytime she appears, as she will prove useful sooner or later in your journey.
