4 Arbok and Weezing
Lock Mewtwo In, Eliminate It
Initially, the Arbok-Weezing combination emerged as a counter designed specifically to challenge Mewtwo ex and Gardevoir decks. This duo continues to be a formidable choice in today’s competitive atmosphere.
With Mewtwo ex being vulnerable to Dark types, a coordinated assault from Weezing and Arbok inflicts 130 damage. While this may seem inadequate against Mewtwo’s 150 HP, Arbok’s ability to immobilize Mewtwo ex for an additional turn allows for a critical follow-up, sealing its fate in the subsequent round.
3 Tauros and Farfetch’d
Sacrifice One for a Double Win
The pairing of Tauros and Farfetch’d demonstrates an often underappreciated strategy against Mewtwo ex. Farfetch’d is ideally positioned to absorb two hits from a Mewtwo ex that is caught off guard, while simultaneously delivering 80 damage in retort. Afterward, you can readily switch in Tauros from Mythical Island, dealing an impressive 120 damage to secure a takedown before Mewtwo can unleash a powerful counter.
While it’s true that Mewtwo ex can act swiftly, especially when supported by Gardevoir, the Tauros-Farfetch’d tandem ensures a minimum of 160 damage output (assuming both get a hit in), making it a reliable counter against Mewtwo ex.
2 Marshadow and Mew ex

Scolipede has experienced a tumultuous journey in the Pokemon TCG Pocket meta, initially soaring as a top-tier anti-meta choice before fading from prominence. Nonetheless, its effectiveness against Mewtwo ex remains significant and relevant.
By employing Weezing to poison Mewtwo ex, you inflict an initial 60 damage—50 from the attack and an additional 10 from Poison. Immediately following this, if you unleash an assault from Scolipede, you can tally an extra 120 damage, effectively vanquishing Mewtwo ex.
However, one should exercise caution, as Scolipede’s 140 HP makes it vulnerable to Mewtwo ex’s ultimate attack, which can deal 150 damage. It is essential to only bring Scolipede onto the field when a direct attack is assured.
