Our Most Anticipated JRPGs of 2025

Many of us at Siliconera are thrilled about revisiting beloved classics such as Suikoden I and II. The charm of these iconic games has been reignited for me, especially after playing Eiyuden Chronicle last year. While I could easily return to my original PlayStation discs, the convenience of playing them on my Switch in handheld mode is highly appealing.— Jenni

Amid the lineup of exciting JRPGs, like the Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, my current top pick has to be The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak II. While I eagerly anticipate Trails in the Sky the 1st, a remake of one of my all-time favorites, I’m especially drawn to experiencing something fresh with this new title.

My fondness for the original Trails through Daybreak stems from its compelling characters like Van and the engaging settings within the Republic. Yet, I felt that the first installment left some narrative potential untapped, appearing somewhat brief and overshadowed by other aspects of gameplay. I am hopeful that the sequel will provide a more robust storytelling experience. Naturally, I am also keeping my fingers crossed for upcoming unannounced titles like a new NieR or Persona 6.— Cody

Interestingly, I share the same excitement for the Legend of Heroes series, specifically for Trails in the Sky the 1st. Having played the original game but stepping away due to its slower battle mechanics, I see this remake as my chance to finally dive deep into the series. Given that I already have several Trails games in my library, it’s time to truly start this journey, and Trails in the Sky the 1st provides the perfect entry point.— Stephanie
