Top AEW star making WWE debut to cost Cody Rhodes the Undisputed Universal Title at WrestleMania 40, veteran speculates
As WWE WrestleMania XL fast approaches, Cody Rhodes faces challenging odds.
In a recent statement, wrestling veteran Matt Morgan shared his thoughts on the potential for AEW star MJF to interfere in the Night Two match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Universal Championship.
Ever since his defeat to Samoa Joe at the Worlds End pay-per-view last year, The Salt of the Earth has not made any appearances in the world of wrestling. Following his loss, he was taken off the official roster page and his merchandise was no longer sold on ShopAEW.com.
It is being said that Maxwell Jacob Friedman is currently recovering from an injury, however, his unexpected absence from AEW has sparked rumors of a possible move to WWE.
On the Gigantic Pop podcast, Matt Morgan discussed the possibility of MJF causing Cody Rhodes to lose the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at The Show of Shows.
“I think that would be my only way I would ever be semi-okay with Cody [Rhodes] not winning the title at ‘Mania. That’s how much I love MJF,”Morgan said. (19:31 – 19:40)
Is MJF a legitimate threat to Cody Rhodes?
Despite ongoing speculation, it is improbable that MJF will make an appearance in WWE in the near future, as it is widely believed that he has discreetly renewed his contract with AEW.
Despite this, Disco Inferno proposed an intriguing concept: Maxwell Jacob Friedman and The American Nightmare reuniting on the grandest stage of all to defend against the Bloodline.
“I wonder if he’s going to WWE and WWE is going to plot all the stops…Remember Solo Sikoa showed up out of nowhere from NXT and interfered and helped Roman against Drew. Remember that? I am wondering if this is like a case where Cody’s character is kind of like smart and tries to outsmart The Bloodline where like The Bloodline is banished from ringside,”
Despite previously entertaining the idea of MJF joining WWE, Cody Rhodes has cautioned fans not to get their hopes up until WrestleMania XL.
