The rise of the Soulslike genre has led to a surge in both blockbuster and indie titles that embrace this compelling gameplay style. From nuanced interpretations to near-exact replicas of FromSoftware’s famed formula, these games offer unique experiences, each bringing something different to the table.
Many titles have excelled in recreating the atmospheric depth, notorious boss challenges, or the addictive gameplay that Soulslike enthusiasts crave. Today, let’s explore the nine best Soulslike games available on Xbox Game Pass, highlighting what makes each of them stand out.
9 Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn
Gods, Guns, and War

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn offers a unique take on Soulslike mechanics, albeit with a combat system that requires some acclimatization and a somewhat lackluster narrative. Nevertheless, my time spent in this beautifully crafted world was immensely enjoyable. The game’s art direction stands out as one of the most impressive I’ve encountered in 2024.
Complemented by expertly designed levels and a rewarding progression system, Flintlock may not reach the heights of a genre masterpiece, but it certainly warrants a recommendation for fans of the style.
8 Ashen
Relaxing Souls

Ashen, the debut title from the creators of Flintlock, takes a refreshing approach to the Soulslike experience. While its combat may be simpler, it offers a captivating atmosphere that diverges from the usual dark themes of the genre.
With its optimistic vibes, minimalistic design, and effective multiplayer features, Ashen presents a unique journey. It’s not without its imperfections, but the intent to create a distinct experience is commendable, making it a notable entry in the Soulslike realm.
7 Lords of the Fallen
Resurrecting Great Quality

Lords of the Fallen has evolved into one of the finest Soulslike games available, especially following its significant 2.0 update. Hexworks has paid genuine homage to FromSoftware’s legacy, and their efforts have substantial merit.
While not universally acclaimed, I found enjoyment in both the initial launch and its enhanced iteration. With outstanding boss encounters, innovative dimension-shifting mechanics powered by the Unreal Engine 5, and a rich aesthetic, it has all the attributes sought after by Soulslike fans. While not perfect, the quality and passion behind Lords of the Fallen are unmistakable.
6 Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
A Pleasant But Flawed Sequel

As a sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor excels at developing the initial game’s foundation into a more vibrant and intricate experience. Cal Kestis’s journey expands upon its predecessor while introducing fresh gameplay elements, earning it a spot among the top titles of 2023.
The game boasts enhanced combat mechanics, intricately detailed environments, and superb exploration. It delivers some of the finest lightsaber combat seen thus far. However, my initial gaming experience was marred by numerous technical glitches at launch, dampening my overall enjoyment. Although it has improved, that initial disappointment remains at the forefront of my memory.
5 Tunic
An Unparalleled Adventure

Tunic shines as a standout in the cozy gaming category, concealing a wealth of depth beneath its charming surface. It presents players with some of the most formidable challenges in the indie gaming landscape, immersing them in a world where language barriers create a richer adventure.
It stresses experimentation through trial and error, interaction, and curiosity, employing the core design principles of Soulslike gameplay. Coupled with straightforward yet engaging combat and beautiful art direction, Tunic delivers a uniquely exceptional experience, even amidst occasional moments of frustration.
4 Remnant 2
The Best Co-op Soulslike

I’ve traditionally favored solitary play in Soulslike titles; however, Remnant 2 has altered my perspective with its exhilarating cooperative gameplay. Building on the foundation of Remnant: From the Ashes, this sequel significantly enhances and optimizes every element.
Showcasing a remarkable variety of builds, engaging boss fights, impressive level design, stunning artistic direction, and profound gameplay mechanics, Remnant 2 represents one of the genre’s most compelling entries. While cooperative gameplay isn’t typically my preference, its engaging nature has won me over.
3 Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
A Fantastic Adaptation

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order stands out amidst a history of varied adaptations of the iconic franchise, successfully capturing the essence of the films while delivering remarkable gameplay. Respawn has masterfully established an engaging narrative intertwined with rich characters, offering one of the most polished Soulslike experiences to date.
Even those unfamiliar with Star Wars will find value in this game, as it offers a thoroughly enjoyable experience without significant flaws.
2 Another Crab’s Treasure
An Unusual Gem of the Genre

Entering with minimal expectations, Another Crab’s Treasure quickly became one of my favorite indie games in recent years due to its creative flair. This title showcases its distinctive nature by adeptly integrating the core elements of the genre into a narrative framework that is both engaging and entertaining.
The game effectively intertwines a challenging gameplay experience with environmental commentary and a humorous twist, creating an appealing mix that sets it apart. Featuring captivating platforming, intricate exploration, a well-developed progression system, and relentless boss encounters, Another Crab’s Treasure exemplifies the best characteristics of Soulslike games.
1 Nine Sols
Sekiro’s Most Worthy Heir

While I entered with high expectations for Nine Sols, its execution surpassed even the most optimistic views. Although not without flaws, this game brilliantly captures the essence of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, managing to incorporate its finest aspects.
The game features a compelling fragmented narrative and an intricate world, alongside a combat system that, when mastered, reveals itself as one of the finest systems in recent gaming history. With iconic bosses posing unique challenges and an intricate blend of parries and passive abilities, Nine Sols’ rich mechanics create a fulfilling experience.
Coupled with stunning visuals and a breathtaking soundtrack, this title exemplifies a perfect fusion of metroidvania elements with the core tenets of a Soulslike experience.
