Unlike its predecessor, Elden Ring, Nightreign emphasizes the use of consumables far more heavily. While you may have ignored items like Boiled Prawn in the original game, in Nightreign, you’ll discover that such consumables can become critical lifelines in challenging encounters.
Below is a curated list of highly valuable consumables to keep an eye out for during your next Nightreign adventure.(Note that I won’t be listing Smithing Stones, as they primarily pertain to weapon upgrades rather than your immediate needs.)

You may be wondering, “What exactly is a bolus?” If you overlooked those little multicolored pebbles in Elden Ring, it’s time to take a second look. In Nightreign, Boluses play a crucial role as they not only alleviate various status ailments but also provide a permanent boost to your resistances.
This enhancement becomes particularly vital when facing tough final bosses, such as Libra, whose attacks can inflict overwhelming Madness. Similarly, when dealing with the Wormface boss, remember to utilize Boluses for protection against deathblight. Since buffs in Nightreign stack multiplicatively, combining Exalted Flesh with abilities like Wylder‘s attacks will allow you to achieve more devastating results against formidable foes like the Bell-Bearing Hunter.
7 Magic Tears

Selecting the right Magic Tear can be challenging, given each one suits different character builds. If you’re focused on magic use, you can’t go wrong with the Cerulean Hidden Tear, which restores FP—a vital resource due to the absence of an FP flask in Nightreign.
Conversely, the Crimsonspill Tear greatly benefits tank characters, offering a 20% HP boost that becomes increasingly useful as you confront the final Nightlord at level 12 and beyond. Magic Tears are worth collecting; be sure to invest in a couple when you can afford them.
6 Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot
I’m Gonna Be Rich!
Many players voice concerns about not having enough time to collect runes for leveling up, but this is often due to overlooking the power of Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot. While they provide a modest 10% increase in rune acquisition, these items are plentiful and can substantially enhance your collection rate, especially if activated before major boss fights.

Unlike in Elden Ring, Nightreign allows players to apply these Greases to any weapon, resulting in a significant damage boost, especially when targeting enemies weak to specific elements. Therefore, don’t overlook Greases; picking them up during your journey may save your life when it counts the most.
