As we approach the latter part of 2025, it’s clear that gamers have eagerly embraced a vibrant lineup of experiences. Exceptional titles such as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Monster Hunter Wilds, Split Fiction, The Alters, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach have already hit the market, alongside the highly anticipated release of the new Nintendo Switch 2.
While I’ve only managed to explore a fraction of these titles, the rest continue to stack up in my extensive backlog—something I’m sure many of you can relate to. But the excitement doesn’t stop there.
Over the remaining months of 2025, a fresh wave of incredible games is on the horizon, ensuring that our wallets will face even greater challenges. From beloved remakes to eagerly awaited sequels and adventurous new IPs, let’s dive into ten of the most thrilling games still to debut this year.
10.Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
A Nostalgic Remake Awaits

Let’s rewind to 2004—a pivotal year in pop culture. As we prepared to watch the first episode of Lost and the launch of Facebook, Naked Snake commenced his covert operations in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Fast forward 21 years, and we’re set to revisit this iconic chapter with the upcoming remake Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
Despite Hideo Kojima’s absence from this project, initial reports suggest that Konami aims for an authentic 1:1 remake. The expectations include updated graphics and possibly retaining some of the game’s infamous loading screens. It promises a nostalgic yet fresh gameplay experience—let’s just hope for a Comic Sans-free adventure this time around!
9.2XKO
Bringing the Fight to You

Ever fantasized about a crossover between iconic multiplayer titles? Your dreams may soon be realized with 2XKO, formerly dubbed “Project L.” This free-to-play 2v2 fighting game is set to include familiar champions from League of Legends, such as Ahri, Darius, and Jinx. The game promises not only thrilling tag-team gameplay but also a radical departure from League’s traditional mechanics—count me in!
8.Donkey Kong Bananza
Smash Your Way to Victory

I recently had the opportunity to try out Donkey Kong Bananza at the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in New York, and it offers a fresh take on the classic franchise. The game encourages players to demolish their surroundings while collecting as many bananas as possible, delivering a delightful combination of fun and relaxation.
This gaming experience feels akin to a more compact version of Super Mario Odyssey, emphasizing player freedom and the sheer joy of destruction while embodying DK’s signature charm.
7.Ghost of Yōtei
Journey to Feudal Japan

As a spiritual successor to Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei transports players to the breathtaking landscapes of Hokkaido during Feudal Japan. This open-world RPG introduces us to Atsu, a female protagonist accompanied by a mysterious wolf companion.
Promotional materials hint at evolved gameplay mechanics and improvements, building on the foundation set by the beloved original. It’s a journey we’re excited to embark on!
6.Silent Hill f
A Return to Survival Horror

After a prolonged hiatus, the Silent Hill franchise makes its long-awaited return with Silent Hill f, featuring an intriguing blend of psychological horror and Japanese folklore. Set in a rural Japanese town plagued by a sinister fog in the 1960s, players will take on the role of a high school student confronting grotesque enemies and riddles to survive.
As a devoted fan of the series, I eagerly anticipate this revival, hoping it recaptures the franchise’s chilling essence!
5.Mafia: The Old Country
Unveiling Crime’s Origins

Prepare to delve into the early days of organized crime with Mafia: The Old Country, set in early 20th-century Sicily. This installment marks the first in the series to explore an Italian backdrop, focusing on the ruthless ascent of Enzo Favara within the Torrisi crime family.
The game promises a gripping narrative combined with a meticulously crafted open-world experience, paving the way for future expansions in the franchise with Mafia 4.
4.Hades II
Ready for a New Underworld Adventure

Supergiant Games has thrilled us with promises of the full release of Hades II sometime in 2025. This sequel lets players embody Melinoë, daughter of Hades and Persephone, as she embarks on a mission to confront the Titan Chronos.
With over 70 hours of engagement during early access, the anticipation for the full game is palpable. I’m excited to dive back into this underworld adventure!
3.Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
The Wait is Over!

Perseverance pays off! Following an extended eight-year wait since its announcement, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has finally moved into the spotlight. It’s been nearly two decades since the arrival of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, so this new addition is incredibly exciting for long-time fans.
Having experienced a sneak peek at the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience, I’m reminded of the thrill of exploration in a hostile alien environment—and I’m considering getting the new console primarily for this game!
2.Pokemon Legends: Z-A
A Nostalgic Pokémon Adventure Awaits

As I prepare for the launch of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, I’ve revisited my Pokémon X and Y game, particularly since its storyline is rooted in the beloved Lumiose City within the Kalos region. Following the footsteps of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, this new installment is set to enhance the RPG experience with innovative features.
What I’m particularly looking forward to are Mega Evolutions’ potential return, my beloved Totodile as a starter Pokémon, and possibly experiencing this game as the long-anticipated sequel to X and Y.
1.Hollow Knight: Silksong
The Long-Awaited Sequel

The anticipation for Hollow Knight: Silksong has been palpable for six years, with sparse updates leading us to question its ever-surfacing. However, following Microsoft’s recent affirmation at the Xbox Games Showcase, hope has been reignited! Fans can expect to see the sequel debut alongside the launch of the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X this coming Holiday 2025.
I eagerly await the opportunity to guide Hornet through an invigorating new Metroidvania realm, facing intricate bosses and interacting with enigmatic NPCs that communicate through “Bapanadas.”
