The adventures of Lara Croft are set to continue as Netflix has confirmed the renewal of Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft for a second season. This animated series draws inspiration from the popular Tomb Raider video game franchise developed by Crystal Dynamics and will soon return to the streaming platform. Netflix announced this exciting news through a press release shared online.
Tasha Huo will reprise her role as the showrunner for the upcoming season. In a discussion with Tudum (Netflix), Huo revealed that while the first season depicted Lara in a solitary journey coping with her sorrow and loneliness, the next chapter will focus on her evolution into a team player.
“In Season 1, the theme revolves around Lara confronting the way her father handled grief, which was through isolation. At the beginning of her journey, Lara is very much alone…” she explained.
“Moving into Season 2, we are committed to building a team around Lara throughout the series, shifting her from being a solitary hero—essentially a lone wolf—to someone who recognizes the amazing group supporting her,” she elaborated.
Additionally, Huo hinted that the second season might feature some sharks. Although a premiere date for Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft season 2 has yet to be announced, fans can look forward to the return of Hayley Atwell in her role as the iconic character.
