Tom Holland Reveals He Googles Zendaya Due to Anxiety

Tom Holland Shares Sweet Admission About Zendaya

In a recent episode of Samah Dada’s On The Menu podcast, published on October 31, 2024, Tom Holland candidly admitted that he sometimes turns to Google to check on his girlfriend, Zendaya. This revelation offered a glimpse into their off-screen relationship, which the couple has mostly kept private.

From Co-Stars to Partners

Their love story began in 2017 during the filming of Spider-Man: Homecoming, where Zendaya portrayed the character MJ, Holland’s on-screen love interest. The duo took their relationship to the next level in 2021 but has since prioritized their privacy amidst the pressures of fame.

Understanding the Need for Privacy

During the podcast, while discussing his new venture with a non-alcoholic beer line called Bero, Holland was asked about the last person he googled. His charming response was Zendaya.

“Sometimes, like, it’s more of a bit of an anxiety thing, but I’ll check to see if everything’s good and to make sure we’re all cool. So I just give her a little Google and look [through] the news, and I’m like, ‘She’s good. We’re fine,’” he explained.

This light-hearted admission highlights Holland’s protectiveness and concern for Zendaya, especially given the relentless attention they receive on social media.

Challenges in the Spotlight

Holland also addressed the difficulties they face in keeping their relationship under wraps. Just days prior, on October 24, 2024, they experienced a tense moment during a public appearance at a New York City launch party. Holland was seen shielding Zendaya from aggressive paparazzi, an example of the couple’s ongoing struggle for privacy despite their high-profile status.

Reflecting on their relationship, Holland previously stated in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on June 14, 2023:

“Our relationship is something that we are incredibly protective of and we want to keep as sacred as possible. We don’t think that we owe it to anyone, it’s our thing, and it has nothing to do with our careers.”

Similarly, Zendaya spoke in an interview with Elle on August 23, 2023, about her balance between public life and privacy:

“Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public. I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. But also, I do have control over what I choose to share.”

The Future of Spider-Man

Fans of the duo can look forward to their continued collaboration, as Tom Holland confirmed during the Rich Roll Podcast on October 17, 2024, that plans for Spider-Man 4 are underway. Holland disclosed that he has reviewed a draft of the script alongside Zendaya and expressed optimism for the project led by director Destin Daniel Cretton, known for his work on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

“The time in which we need to get that done is a tall order but definitely achievable with the fantastic people we have working on it now,” Holland remarked.

The previous Spider-Man films starring Holland and Zendaya have collectively earned nearly $3.96 billion globally, making their return a highly anticipated event. As they embark on this new chapter, both fans and critics alike are eager to see how the story unfolds under Cretton’s vision.
