“Today has been the first full day outside of my bed” – Barbora Krejcikova opens up on her health issues amid prolonged tennis absence

Despite her extended break from tennis, Barbora Krejcikova has recently shared details about her health issues.

Despite a strong start to her 2024 season, Krejcikova was faced with a setback when she fell ill with a severe flu. Her first tournament of the year, the Adelaide International 1, ended in a surprising defeat in the first round by fellow Czech player Anna Kalinskaya.

Despite facing a setback, the Czech remained determined and continued to perform well, reaching the quarterfinals at the Australian Open where she was defeated by eventual champion Aryna Sabalenka. In fact, she also achieved her second quarterfinal appearance of 2024 at the Abu Dhabi Open, but was unable to advance further after losing to Liudmila Samsonova.

The winner of the 2021 French Open had been scheduled to participate in the 2024 Dubai Tennis Championships, in which she was the reigning champion. However, she withdrew from the event due to a back injury. In an Instagram post, she revealed that she was also battling a severe flu, but assured her fans that she was recovering. She also gave an update on her back injury, stating that it was getting better and she was looking forward to returning to training.

It appears that her flu was more severe than she had first believed. In a subsequent story, Krejcikova provided an update on her health and shared some news with her fans.

The Czech woman shared that she finally left her bed for a full day after recovering from the flu, and she intends to begin her journey towards wellness by taking walks. She added that she will not engage in any strenuous activities just yet.

“Some more news about my condition. Today has been the first full day outside of my bed. Im still not allowed to practice nor do anything higher intensity so Im starting with some easy walks in our nature. I will keep you updated about my progress in next days. Barbora”, she wrote in an Instagram story.
