As you journey through the captivating narrative of Titan Quest 2, you may have noticed a lack of formidable bosses until now. However, once you venture into the Vineyards, everything changes dramatically.
The encounter with Pan marks a critical turning point in your adventure, presenting the first truly challenging fight of the campaign. To face him successfully, you must ensure you step into the arena well-prepared and armed with every possible advantage.
This intense battle will test your endurance, defense, and reflexes like no challenge you’ve experienced thus far. So gear up, sharpen those masteries, and get ready to confront the very Gods themselves!
Preparation for Battle
Leveling Up

After surviving Pan’s trial and emerging from the cave, it’s wise to return to Pyrgos for further preparation. Before considering a foray into the arena, ensure you are adequately leveled up. Aiming for level 17-18 is highly recommended.
If you’ve explored the region thoroughly and completed various world quests, you might already be at this level. However, if you’ve focused solely on the story, taking some time to explore is crucial before facing Pan.
Completing quests also grants you vital active and passive points, enhancing your masteries and attributes, which could be the key to surviving this tough encounter.
Choosing Builds and Enhancing Resistances

Moreover, focus on upgrading your fire resistances through gear drops available throughout the world or from merchants in Pyrgos. Since Pan primarily deals fire damage, bolstering your resistance is vital if you find dodging difficult.
Ranged builds will have a clear advantage here, as many of Pan’s attacks inflict maximum damage at close range. Employ hit-and-run tactics and chip away at his health from a distance to navigate the battle more easily. For players utilizing Storm skills, consider the Ice Shard ability, or if you’re a Rogue, the Doom Trick Shot build can be very effective.
If you prefer melee combat, prioritize skills that enhance your armor, defense, and movement speed to aid in dodging attacks. Stay agile and maintain your movement; overconfidence can lead to dire consequences!
Analysis of Pan’s Attacks
Pan’s Phase 1

Once you’re fully equipped, step into Pan’s arena and brace yourself for an epic showdown. Pan comes with substantially more health than any previous encounter and has two distinct phases that you must navigate carefully.
Before launching any attacks, take time to familiarize yourself with his moves and the flow of combat. Here are the primary attacks to watch out for:
Attack Name |
Description |
How to Avoid |
---|---|---|
Light Slash |
Pan performs a wide swing with his weapon in front of him, causing heavy physical damage. Expect this attack to occur twice before he alternates to a different move. |
Simply back away or pivot through him to evade this predictable attack. |
Magic Bolts |
He releases four homing missiles that inflict minor fire damage. These attacks can usually be dodged quite easily. |
Dodge sideways or horizontally to escape the bolts. Watch out, as they may loop back to hit you again! |
Leap Slam |
Pan charges up energy before leaping forward and slamming down at your location. This attack has a short warning but creates a large damaging area upon landing. |
To dodge, utilize two dodges: first, back away from his leap, then quickly move towards Pan to avoid the expanding damage area. |
Wild Charge |
This often marks the start of the battle. Pan lowers his head and charges forward, igniting a path of flames. He will halt at the arena’s edge, but the flames will remain hazardous. |
Dodge sideways and steer clear of the ignited area while attacking from a safe distance when possible. If you must engage up close, draw him away first. |
Pan’s Phase 2

When Pan’s health drops to around 60%, he will declare, “I’ve had enough of you!” initiating a more perilous second phase. In this state, he gains three additional moves while retaining his previous arsenal.
Attack Name |
Description |
How to Avoid |
---|---|---|
Pillars of Flame |
Pan thrusts a flaming fist into the ground, summoning five pillars of flame around him. This move is clearly telegraphed with blue target circles. Post-attack, pools of fire will inflict damage over time. |
Simply step away from the target circles, avoiding the pools of fire that emerge after the pillars. |
Death Flute |
Pan plays a series of wave attacks in a cone shape, covering a wide area. While damage is minimal, the attack inflicts a slowing effect for its duration. |
Upon hearing the horn sound, move as far away from Pan as possible or, if feasible, position yourself behind him for safety. |
Burning Nova Blast |
This powerful attack is Pan’s ultimate move that he can only use once. He gathers energy and releases fire waves, followed by spiraling fire attacks in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions. |
Focus on evading rather than attacking during this moment. Stay back and make small movements side to side to weave through gaps in his fiery assault. |
Claiming Rewards and Re-fighting Bosses

Upon defeating Pan, you’ll be rewarded with a loot explosion from the treasure chest. Additionally, you may notice that Pan drops his horn, which you can take back to the Ritual Shrine in Pyrgos.
There, you can unlock the Memory Knot situated near Pan’s Arena, allowing you to challenge him repeatedly for more experience. For an added challenge and upgraded gear drops, consider performing one of the rituals of Ares at the Ritual Shrine to elevate Pan’s level by up to five times.
