Tim Cook Predicts Record December Quarter for Apple Driven by iPhone 17 Series

Apple’s iPhone segment fell short of analysts’ expectations in the recently concluded fiscal fourth quarter of 2025, primarily attributed to temporary challenges in iPhone 17 sales. However, the company provided a clear rationale for this shortfall and surprised many by its optimistic outlook for the upcoming quarter ending in December.

Apple Set for Record December Quarter

In our previous analysis, we reported that Apple’s iPhone revenue in fiscal Q4 2025 was anticipated to reach $50.19 billion; however, the company reported only $49.03 billion for the quarter. This discrepancy has raised concerns among investors and analysts alike.

During the earnings conference, CEO Tim Cook explained that the decline in iPhone 17 sales was mainly due to “supply constraints, ”stating, “Currently, we’re supply-constrained on several models of the iPhone 17.”He reassured stakeholders that this was not indicative of a dwindling demand for the product.

Cook expressed his enthusiasm for the robust performance across Apple’s portfolio, emphasizing, “I am incredibly excited about the strength we’re seeing across our products and services.”This reflects a promising future despite the current sales slump.

Looking ahead, Apple is forecasting its strongest December quarter to date:

“We expect the December quarter revenue to be the best ever for the company and the best ever for iPhone.”

Furthermore, Cook highlighted that the iPhone 17 lineup has garnered a “tremendous response”from consumers, with increasing reports showcasing strong interest, particularly in the base iPhone 17 and its Pro Max variant.

Notably, in China, the iPhone Air is experiencing remarkable popularity, buoyed by its eSIM-only feature, which resonates with consumers in a market where eSIM technology was only recently introduced. Reports suggest that the iPhone Air sold out mere hours after its launch in China, underscoring the strong demand for the device.
