In a remarkable development, the classic MMORPG Tibia has unveiled its first new class in almost 30 years: the Monk. Product manager “Niadus”has also shared insights regarding the challenges and innovations this new vocation brings to the game.
Since its inception in 1997, Tibia has maintained a loyal player base, establishing itself as one of the earliest online MMORPGs still operational. While not as mainstream as some rivals, such as World of Warcraft and RuneScape, it continues to thrive among classic titles, primarily due to its unique approach to gameplay. Tibia allows players to explore vast worlds, engage in battles, and interact with others without a level cap, offering paths for unlimited progression.
Exploring the Monk Class
The Monk class features a novel harmony system that requires players to strategically manage their harmony for both offensive and healing actions. According to Niadus, this system is what distinctly separates the Monk from other classes within the game. The Monk can utilize specific attack spells that require harmony, adding a layer of complexity to combat and support roles.
In crafting this new class, CipSoft aimed to introduce a melee fighter, filling a gap in contrast to the existing three ranged vocations.
